I am starting to think about Christmas..... I know its early but need to get some ideas. What can of toys, or things are out there for older children (Boys ages 9,11,13 and a girl who is 10).
For the 9 year old boy I would love to get him a educational type laptop made for kids with educational activities. I see they make them for younger children (has simple math, spelling etc on them) Does anyone know if they make anything like this for older children?

Does the 9 yr old have Nintendo DS? There is a game called Brain Age, as well as one called Brain Academy. These are being recommended by my 11 yr old son. There is also a board game that he loves that I enjoy playing called Top Secret. You can find it at highlights.com. It is kind of like Clue in that you have to collect certain cards for specific people, places, and objects(which are the stolen items). These could work for all of the boys. Are any into music? tigerdirect.com has a small mp3 player (512mb) for only $40. It is not an IPOD but it works fine. Good luck.

I am already done with my shopping so I understand. I think the Disney mix stix is a wonderful gift for the 10 year old girl and the 9 year old boy. My daughter has one and loves it. they are about 39.99 but they are so cute. They put you in the mind of the IPOD shuffles but they have disney and are 40 dollars cheaper. I think you should get the older kids some gift cards from Target, EB GAmes or something like that where they can buy CD's DVD's or video games. Hope that helps

I am a big fan of the Discovery Stores Digtal Money coin jar. It is $14.95 at Discovery Store in the OakBrook Mall or online. It keeps count of how much money you have - and is a real neat gift for all ages. My 4 yr old has one with $42 worth of coins. You would not think that much was in there. I also have one for my laundry room - so far $32 from loose change .

Hi S.,

I am not sure of what to get the boys. But my sister just got her 9&11 year old girl each a diary and one of the safes that are designed for kids they are about $30-$50. They each love. She got the one that is combination lock for the one that like #'s and the one that takes your thumb print for the one that is forgetful. Both girl loved them for their B-day's.

If you want to keep with the educational activities, you might want to stop by your local teacher's store. They may have just what you are looking for! Just a thought!

Good luck!
