Mine is 10 and she has 10 presents from us(including book and hairbows). She will get one from each grandparent and cousin for a total of 18. The big toy is a Barbie house.

What can I do next?

No set number. If it falls into the budget and looks like hers she gets it.
She has grandparents that are generous. She is very fortunate to not do without.

To be honest, if all she ever got was books or gift cards to book stores.. she would be in heaven.

My girls, 7 and 9, will get 3 each from Santa and another 3 or 4 each from their dad and I. Big gifts this year are their own iPod touches. Then there's just smaller gifts....board games, bathrobes, brain quest flash cards. Their big gift from Santa will be ice skating lessons.

My M. will give each girl 2 gifts and a telescope as a combined gift. My inlaws will put money in each girls' college fund and one present each.

I got my M. an iPod touch too....now her and the girls can "face time" each other. They'll all love it!

We normally spend $100 each on the 3 older ones and $50 each for the two little ones. This year the older ones will be getting a game console and each a game... so we will be going over our "normal" spending. But they deserve it :)

so its not about the # of gifts, but what they want and how many falls under that price

Plus they get gifts from my M., dad, my in laws and my brother.

The two kids get gifts from thier dad, grandma, great grandparents, aunts and step grandparents. ( the gifts stay at thier dad's)

So they get enough :)

Each of my kids get 11-12 presents. My parents give 2 each, and my inlaws buy like 5-6 sometimes more. Aunts and uncles total 8 not counting money from great grandmothers . So total like 28 maybe 30. They are 9,6,20 months. The big toy for the bigger boys are tablets from us and new electric guitars from inlaws(each already have one but wanted steel guitars) A cozy coupe truck for baby from inlaws and an Elmo couch from us(Santa). My kids are extremely spoiled at Christmas and now that I count it out they get tons and tons...They do appreciate every gift and usually play with all they get unless someone buys something that is not at all age appropriate.

My son is getting 5 from me, two of them clothes. Hopefully my parents and sister keep it down to about the same. My son has way too many toys as it is and I am making a big effort for the next few years to keep everything to a minimum.

i don't count. baaad precedent! :o)

he gets a few from santa, (enough to make a decent "presentation" but not a ton) sometimes 1 or sometimes a few from us, and whatever everyone else gives him, which isn't my business. he's thrilled either way.

My 4 y/o gets 1 gift from us (about $60) and our 14 y/o gets 3 gifts (about $ 600 total) and I think they will get 1 or 2 from each set of grandparents.
That's it.

My girls really don't need any more toys than they already have but that won't stop the grandparents from getting toys. My husband and I decided one big gift to share (dollhouse), 3 new outfits (2 pants, 1 dress), 2 pajamas, house shoes, and a movie each. So 8 each if you include the doll house. Grandparents usually do one or two toys each and one or two outfits, and then lots of books. Books rule in our house so they get a lot and I'm okay with that.

I don't count or have a goal to meet. Whatever I get is what i get. One kid might get 1-2 more presents but my kids don't count presents! I give what I know they want. I don't meet quotas.

We don't really count, other than to make sure each child has equal # of gifts.

Grandparents on husband's side go WAY overboard and will generally get each kid 5-6 gifts each,if not more, my M. gives about 3-4 each, my sister gives about 3 each and we usually give about 7-8 each + 1 *big* gift each from Santa + Christmas Eve PJ's.

My daughter is getting six gifts that cost a total of about $200. I might still add a book or two to that. She will get one gift from her older sister. She doesn't have any grandparents and we don't exchange gifts among our extended family.
