Hi,
We are a cloth diaper family, but tried them for two weeks when we travelled to Europe in the Spring. They were a disaster. We had two blow outs and caused a toilet to overflow trying to flush them. When the flushable pad gets wet, it squishes together as it starts to break down. If you don't change it immediately, then the baby poops, the poops misses the now contoured insert and gets on the vinyl liner. We ended up having to change out the vinyl liner almost every diaper change, and wash the outer covers by hand each night.
You are better off using a quality cloth diaper cover like THirsties with a folded prefold inside.
Not to mention that the medium/large flushable inserts cost nearly $0.50 each. Most calculations will show you $2500-3000 to use g diapers. 36 onesize cloth diapers will last birth to potty learning and cost around $600.
Plus, we just resold 8 of our used ones on Craigs List (after two years of use) for nearly half what we paid for them.
Happy to chat more about cloth diaper options, if you would consider them.
