I haven't seen the gambling ads. Either that or I've just ignored them.
Right now I'm pretending not to see the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute ad.
But that's just me.
Anybody else hate the gambling ads that are on this site now? It reminds me of the pop-up windows that I try to get rid of on my computer. Especially those frowny faces about "is your online gambling illegal" or something like that. It is SO distracting.
The ads I'm mentioning are the ones that show on the banner up above everyone's question. Sometimes they move, say "click here", and all that. The regular everyday ads don't really bother me - not all are for "Moms" and kids, but I was just shocked to see Poker and gambling.
I will try to find someone who can help me with my browser - maybe that will get rid of them for me. I would have died if I had seen any porn ads, like some of the moms are talking about!
Thanks!

I haven't noticed the ads to be honest but, I will say that the past 2 months or so I have had major issues from time to time responding to posts or sending flowers. I believe it's due to the ads and pop ups. Really stinks!! I love this site and it bums me out when I can do anything but read the posts.
As long as it doesn't hinder your usage on the site I would just try to ignore to the best of your ability.
Take care!
Dawn, I haven't seen any gambling ads. I see quite a few for hospitals and jewelry and Suburban Orthopaedics. How do they know my knee hurts?!?
Do you see those? Perhaps we each get our own personalized ads.... Hmmm.
I never even notice the ads.. No pop ups with firefox.
Ads on websites are generated with data from searches previously made by the viewer.
Reynolds wrap, travelocity, assurance wireless, nuvigal and coupons.com are the static/banner ads I see at this moment.
The gambling ads are most likely pop-ups, you can filter your computer to block those.
You know what? I actually never even see the ads, because I just don't care to look at them...I just focus on the area of the screen where the question/answer is.
Are they pop-ups? If so, you need to block pop-ups in your browser's settings. I don't get any pop-ups on this site.
The only ad I see on Mamapedia is the mamasource one...
my hubby installed the adblockers for me... I think you can get them for both firefox and chrome.
Hmmm...not seen one ever, I must not be observant.
