one more question for today while my daughters still napping.. my question about clothing sizes got me thinking about when my fiance and i were in babies r us a few weeks ago. When we found out we were having a girl my fiance was in shock for quite a while.. he had kind of a "what am i going to do with a girl?" freak out moment. Well now that we have our daughter hes all bout "daddys princess" and pink and purple and kittys and ruffles. My fiance is a very manly man type..
so we are in babies r us and we were looking at clothes and all of a sudden he walks away.. he comes back a minute later holding this little pink ruffled tutu with a top that went with it that had pink zebra stripes&a little bow on it.. and in the most excited voice he goes "how cute is this?, look at the little ruffles we haaaavvee to buy her this" ... i almost peed my pants... just to see him standing there (he had just gotten home from work) in his workboots, dirty jeans, and carhart work jacket with his scruffy beard and dirt on his face, getting all excited about this little tutu.. seriously i almost died.. it was so cute and hilarious

any other moms out there know any macho-man daddies that suddenly turned into mush once they had a daughter

What can I do next?

I have only seen my "Manly Husband" cry once- the day our daughter was born. I had a c-section, and he took over from the nurses the minute she was cleared. He was a diaper changing maniac, until the first poop (Meconium?) I heard him talking to her as he started unwrapping, then I heard him yell "Oh my God! What happened? What is this stuff?"

I died laughing - the nurses came in to see what the fuss was all about and they died laughing too! I told them I forgot to warn him about the first poop.

My hubby was the same way. He is a big ol tattooed biker and when the ultrasound tech said its a girl...he repeated over and over "a little girl for all my sins" lol
when she was born and i saw him cry it was beautiful.
he is still gruff and tough but his little girl and his son are the apples of his eye. :)
many blessings

I think any good dad would turn to mush for his daughter. He's accepting having a little princess, you should enjoy it!

Well, we have a little boy. My husband is a very "manly-man" kind of guy, but he is also very smart. So one day, when I was pregnant with our son, we were out crib shopping and he just kept saying how SMALL all the cribs were. I was getting kind of frustrated because the cribs were generally all the same size.

Then we turn the corner and the store had a nursery set up with the full size crib, a chair, a changing table, etc. My husband goes, 'There! That's what I'm talking about!". I looked on the card and the measurements were the same as all the other cribs we had looked at, so I told him "No, that's the same size as the rest of them."

He was adamant that this crib was bigger than the rest. It took a while, but I finally figured out what he was talking about.

You know how when stores display cribs and other furniture, it's kinda of like a miniaturized version of the crib so that it takes up less room on the shelf? Well, hubby thought that the miniaturized size was the actual size of the crib! Lol

He will never live that down... :)

Sounds exactly like my son. He lives shopping for his princess. Yes it is all about pink, princess, and purple and tutus. Don't you just love it!

Oh how cute....
I have a daughter.
My Husband would even brush my daughter's hair and put in her scrunchies etc. And he would let her play make-up on him when she was a Toddler. It was so cute.
Daddy and daughter bonding.

Me as a child, I hated any ruffles!
LOL

Yes, he's smitten!

My hubby used to be pretty gruff when it came to the kids. BUT we've been raising a granddaughter for six years now and I have slowly watched him melt and now he's puddy in her hands!
