Flower Giirl Dress Help

Last night I picked up my daughter's flower girl dress for my sister-in-law's wedding for the middle of June. My daughter is going to be 2 1/2 at the time of the wedding and I don't think that she'll be potty trained by that time. She tried on her dress at the Bridal Salon and I realized that you could see her diaper thru the dress. Since the wedding's in June, I think we're going with socks rather than tights, was just wondering if anyone else ran into this and what they did? Can you buy a cover? Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well we were in Target today and thought I would look and they had diaper covers on clearance for $1.98!!! So I got two and can double them if needed. Thanks for all your suggestions!

My daughter was in a wedding last year and not potty trained yet (and even if she was newly potty trained I would have not push it on that day because it is a "new" and exciting event and no way she would remember to use the bathroom.

Anyway I got a cute bloomer to go over diaper, I can not remember where I got it but I know I went to JcPenny, Boston Store, Gymboree and Kohls (one of those places had it). If you can not find bloomers I would think white underwear would also work... thought the idea of writing something on them to congrats the bride and grooms is really cute wish I would have done that for the wedding my daughter was in. It would have to be place correctly to not be seen through the dress (or use a light color permanent marker, maybe one of the wedding colors if you know them).

Definitely buy little bloomers or panties to wear over the diaper. If you want to have a little fun, get some bloomers and then write something on them like "Congrats aunt jane" so when she bends over everyone will see--it'll be cute!

I would recommend buying a cover or bloomers. Sometimes you can find really cute ones (especially for a wedding) that are decorative and match the flower girl dress or the bride's.

That way, when she is dancing too at the reception and does that inenviatable bend over, no one will see her diaper, only the the cute cover. =)

Cheapest and easiest thing to do since she will probably be potty trained soon is to go and buy a package of white underwear, have her put one pair on and try on the dress and see if you can still see the diaper if you can add another pair until you don't see the diaper anymore. When my twins were 18 months old they were flower girls but their dresses were made and we made sure to use a thick fabric for it 1. because they were still in diapers and 2. the wedding was in December (but it was down in Arizona temps at the time there were like early spring, warm in the sun but cool in the shade), yet they were still lacy and frilly.

A tiny crinoline (if the skirt of the dress is full enough) would look fun and ruffly and provide diaper cover. My niece was 2 at our wedding and she loved to spin around and make the fluffy crinoline spin. I think by the end of the evening, she had stripped down to an undershirt and the crinoline = )

When my girls were little they made bottoms to go over diapers for when girls wore dresses. They look kid of like panties trimmed with lace. Or you could just use a pair of white panties over the diaper. Do they make slips for girl that young?

I agree with the others about buying a panty/bloomer to cover the diaper. But wanted to add in also, If it is something you will never use again consider buying it at a second hand or consignment store. you will get them for about 50 cents as opposed to $8 or $10 at a regular store

You could even get her white cotton shorts to put over her diaper. You can get those pretty cheap and you'd use them again. If you can't find those and get the bloomers, I'm betting you'll use them over and over again under her other dresses.

fancy pants are what we used, they're just a ruffle-butt panty that goes over the diaper. We got ours at Babies R US

could you use a tank top style onesie underneath without it showing? Otherwise find another outfit that has white "bloomers" and use those

They have some very pretty frilly diaper coveres that little girls can wear at this age. Alot of them are veery lacy with little ribbon bows... very very cute. Take a look for them in your local store

Do a web search for baby bloomers. It will bring up several web sites that have diaper covers. Rufflebutt has really cute ones that go up to a size 2T.

R.,

I would buy matching bloomers. Talk to the bridal salon. If they don't sell them, they could put you in touch with their alterations seamstress who could whip up a pair in no time. You can also talk to the bridal salon about where to get a matching fabric.

Good luck,
S.
