Hi,
I'm new to area and am looking for a female Gyn...(I just feel more comfortable with being able to discuss female stuff with someone who actually experiences the same thing...)

Looking in Joliet, Orland Park, Frankfurt, New Lenox, Tinley areas...BUT am willing to drive a little since its basically a once a year visit! So, if you've got a good rec,
bring it on!

Thanks!!!

What can I do next?

C.,

the OB/Gyn that I use is located in Bolingbrook. It's a group of them with 3 or 4 women and 2 men. I see Dr. Carney and she's absolutely awesome!!! I like Dr. Anderson also, they're both great :)

They're at the Edward's Women's Center for Health off Weber Rd in Bolingbrook (across from the Meijer)

Good Luck.

I go to Dr. Angela Risser at Pronger Smith in Tinley Park. It's on LaGrange Road and 174th. The phone number is ###-###-####. She is great, and so are all the other OB-GYNs (I saw them all during my pregnancy). My son's pediatrician, Dr. Jeffrey Lin, is also at that office. He is very calm and friendly, my little boy loves him! Most of the doctors there are affiliated with Palos, St. Francis, Christ, Little Co. of Mary, and other hospitals.

Dr. Corinne Nawrocki at Midwest Physician Group in Orland is Family Medicine - but I usee her as my Gyne until I changed insurance. She is absolutely wonderful. Down to earth, matter of fact and spent a lot of time with me.

My OB/Gyne now is Dawn Collier she is also at Orland or I see her in Olympia Fields. She has been really booked though because they had a doctor out sick, but he has since returned.

Dr. Laureen L. Ambrose, M.D.

Great empathetic female OB/GYN. Has an excellent reputation as a reputable medical professional. She is very easy to talk to, never rushes you, answers questions honestly and is concerned about her patients well-being. I feel that as a woman and parent herself, she really understands our feelings and symptoms. I highly recommend Dr. Ambrose.

Hey C.,

I'm not sure if you're still looking for a female GYN or not, but I've got a good one located in Richton Park. If you'd like to know more about her or need her contact info., please let me know and I'll be glad to give it to you.

Like you...I only really feel comfortable with female physicians. As a matter of fact, presently I'm seeking a good female medical doctor but that's another story. :)

Have A Good One!

Normally, I wouldn't give my recommendation. But then I saw that you're from St. Louis! Me too! I'm 35 living in Oak Lawn w/ DH, daughter 3.5 years, and son 8 mos.

For my ob/gyn care, I've been using CNM's -- certified nurse midwifes. They are RN's who have completed specilized training and are completely legal and competent for all ob/gyn matters -- except surgery.

They are in Oak Park. Which, yes, it's a drive. But, like you said, it's basically once a year -- unless you're having a baby.

I know there are some good CNM's in Joilet too.

If you'd like more info, let me know. C.
