Families Who Have Lost a Child - Living near Keller, Tx??

I have posted several questions on here tonight - mainly because I am FINALLY 'in the loop' with this mamapedia business! :0)

We are pretty new to the area and we are looking for other families to connect with who have dealt with the tragedy of losing a child. In 2007 we lost our 2nd born daughter Liberty, when she was 5 months old. Since then we have had two more daughters.

We moved 500+ miles away from 'home' due to a lack of support from family and friends. This has been a long, lonely - terribly hard journey for our family...but for me especially.

Many women have mentioned support groups in the area - however, due to my husbands work schedule we are unable to attend at this time. Plus, most of the support groups in the area will not allow children to attend - which is hard for us because our children are still so little and one of our daughters has a congenital heart defect - so that makes us nervous to leave them with a sitter.

We thought we would reach out and try to find other families near this area that we could connect with (through email or phone, whatever is most convenient). I have had such a hard time dealing with the death of our precious baby girl and would love to have another mommy to talk with - someone who understands where I am coming from....

God bless you all - I look forward to hearing from you all..

Kelly

Hi, Kelly~

So sorry to hear about your loss and the trouble you've been having since. I have two friends who have lost infants (3 mos, 13 mos and stillborn), and I know how hard it's been for them. They both have other children now and life has moved forward. One friend still has a difficult time every year around that time. Perhaps your local hospital might have a group or some suggestions.

I hope you find support in your new community soon. Wishing you many blessings.

Hi Kelly,
I read your other posts and decided to reply here. First I want to say that I live in Denton so I can't necessarily recommend anything close to you. BUT I can say that you ought to get plugged into a MOMS Club in your area (momsclub.org). Second I want to say that I know a zillion homeschooling moms, and most of the ones I know go to our church, Denton Bible Church. In addition to homeschool families, I know several at our church who have dealt with loss of child and we actually have a minitry for that. So getting plugged in at our church might be a good fit for you (I would also check into Irving Bible Church as it might be closer to where you are. Very similar teaching, doctrine, etc.). Finally I would get on facebook and look for groups as well. Some people are more forthcoming on their profiles than in group settings, such as MOMS Club etc. I would be happy to help you find other outlets. You can e-mail me at ____@____.com

Kelly, I don't know if they can help you, but I bet they can give you some suggestions. Call the Warm Place which is a grief support center for children who have lost a family member and their families. It is in Ft Worth and it has a wonderful, nationally recognized program to help in the grieving process. The phone number is ###-###-####
