O.O.
No.
And the links that say you can are notoriously viral. Stay away.
I am not real great with the in's and out's of Facebook. I use it very rarely. So I'm wondering, is there a way to see who is searching your name or looking at your page?
No.
And the links that say you can are notoriously viral. Stay away.
Nope. And don't click on links that claim they will show you, they won't and you'll get a virus.
No. But do be sure that only your friends can see your page. Go to settings/privacy to see that. A great tool is the who can see my stuff. You can go in as a user and see your page as they see it.
No, the whole wide world can type in any name that is the same as yours and they get hundreds of people to go through.
For instance, if I was on FB and was reading something and thought of an old dear friend I had lost contact with, let's say.....Mary Smith Jones from OKC and went to U S Grant High School in the 60's. I went to a different high school and in a different decade so if you're Mary Jones and went to Grant during the 60's...I really don't know you...lol.
So I type in the name Mary Smith Jones and search that name. I get thousands of course, there are lots of Mary Smith's and Mary Jones. So I put in some advanced search options. I narrow it down to a hundred or so. I go through the list and click on the ones that are the right color, age, gender, area, etc...so maybe I narrow it down to 10. I still go to each of their timelines to see if I recognize anything that might indicate that's my old high school friend.
I have found many of my high school friends this way. I looked at nearly 500 Pappan's when searching for an old friend. I found some amazing artist pages too and bought some cool sculptures. All because I was searching for a friend.
If you don't want anyone to find you then you have some options. You can block your name from being searched. BUT that means your kids can't find you or friend you, your mom, hubby, aunt mary, no one can search your name and find you. They'd only find all the rest of the people on FB that have the same name.
YOU can also limit what strangers see when they visit your timeline. What ever you post as public shows to anyone in the whole wide world.
I kept telling my sister all her photo's were public and that she needed to fix that. No one has access to my photo albums except friends and over 90% of my friends are friends that are acquaintances. They can't access my photo albums. Only friends can. I have a LOT of friends that I play Gardens of Time with that are complete strangers. They don't have access to anything I have not allowed them access to.
Go to your settings and go through each one, decide how much you want hidden. Your profile pic is public, your big pictures is also public. Your home city, where you live, etc...can be set to where if they want to know it they have to ask you for it. Or it can be public too.
I have mine set as OKC as my home town and OKC as where I live now. It's not where I live but I'm very very very close by. I just don't want strangers knowing what small town I live in.
Setting your privacy is for YOU to do. SO no, there is no way to see who's looking your name up because thousands of people per day are looking up names trying to find lost relatives, old friends, and misspelled names. It's what the social media is all about.
If you see those links on FB "see who's checking you out"??? DO NOT click on it...it's spam....
No, you cannot see who has been searching for you. You can tell who is looking at your page by who "Likes" your comments. Otherwise? No. No way to track who is watching you.
How do you have your privacy settings set? If anyone can search you, you are open to the public.
Go to your facebook wall...select the cogwheel in top right hand corner by your name, right click on it, then select your "settings"
A new menu will come up. "Privacy" will be on the left side of the screen. Select that. Then verify how your settings are configured. You will need to check the section "who can see me" - if you have selected "public" that means everyone can see you...if you have selected friends...friends can see you....this is the one most people select...when you select this one - when you post on friends walls - people who are not your friends can see your posting....if you have selected friends EXCEPT acquaintances - this means that if you are posting on someone else's wall - people who are not your friends can't see you (I don't know this for 100% certainty). And the last selection is ONLY YOU...if this is your choice...there's really no sense in being on facebook, it's social networking.
The next section is who can contact you...you can allow people who don't know you to contact you or ONLY your friends. I would suggest your friends only.
the last section is who can look me up... this is one where you need to check and make sure you don't have it enabled to allow search engines to look you up as well...
Hope this helps!
No. But you can also set your privacy settings to limit who can see which posts of yours. You can make one setting or you can change them for certain categories. So while you can't tell who is looking for you, you can control what people can see if you haven't "friended" them and granted them access.
And as others have said, don't click on things that say they can help you. And don't click on things that say stuff like "click 'like' and see what happens" or even "Share if you love your sister with all your heart" or "share if you hate cancer" -- those are almost always people/companies trying to gather your info. They accomplish nothing, they don't give money to cancer research, and they are bogus.
I think that it's pretty anonymous on a laptop/desktop, but pretty much everything shows up on your phone. I am not certain about exactly what.
