i was shooping around looking for people, not that i actually wanted to friend, but just wanted to see if they were married, kids, job what have you. I know i am an awful awful person.

then i remembered hearing about some app or program that allows you to "See" who is looking at your profile.

So Zonks! does that app/program/site really work, is it free do a lot of people use it???

edited to add: just to clarify, I didn't want to see who was lookign at me, I just didn't want to have other people reailze i was snooping at them.
so sounds like I can breath again, and stay away from fb for a while.lol

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

lol, no no slasher film stalking, just highschool snooping. and i realized i spelled Zoinks wrong. My scooby doo/shaggy imitation leaves a lot to be desired in real life too.

i do feel a little awful though, lol since i would have no intention of ever striking up a "friendship"

That is so funny, I felt the same way. I used to spend literally all my ME time snooping on other profiles. I was looking for who they married and if they had kids, if they were still friends with so and so...wasted so much time being nosy. Like dawn said, if it is on FB then it is not really private. But I agree with you, you don't want others to know you are interested in what they are doing/where they are in life. great q!

Funny! I take it you're looking at old high school friends, people who you wonder "What happened to them?" Is that really snooping if they are on FB?

Like the others said, that program is a scam, so don't worry about it. Some people don't have tight security measures on their FB, so you can see everything they do and say. If it's like that, you certainly shouldn't worry about looking at it. If they DO have tight security, you can't see anyway.

Don't feel so guilty! If you weren't planning on trying to scam their credit card or stalk them by writing as someone else telling them you know who they are and "what they did" (like in the slasher movie), then you don't have to feel guilty. It's only when you actively hate someone and try to stalk them on FB, tell them that you can find them anywhere and harbor ill will in your heart by making them worry that you will try to hurt them, that you are doing something wrong.

nope. it's a scam. if it sounds too good to be true...it usually is.

I'll NOT click on any links like that. I get kinda miffed when people do fall for it and my wall gets spammed with pictures and the links...urgh...

I've always heard they don't work. Probably just another virus or more malware.

No, not a big deal. I did this with some of my high school church friends. Some of them looked like they were 100 years old, some married the guy they dated in high school and then they grew up and he was a jerk so they divorced. Some were nicely grown up and age treated them well.

I fulfilled my curiosity and was done. People are supposed to look at your profile, that's what a social network is all about. It's about looking for old friends and reconnecting. So many people have the same names too. I looked at over 500 people when I was trying to find a lady I know. Finally I called her and told her to friend me instead. She just would not come up no matter what. She had her privacy settings set for not being able to be found except by friends only...she fixed it after this.

Even if those programs were not spam they would serve no purpose in my mind. If someone is looking for "Gamma G" they are going to find a bunch of them to look at to see if it's the right one. That's what a social network is all about. I think if someone had a problem with it they should set their privacy setting to not being able to be searched.

I never would try a link like that. Probably malware or virus, like PrincessMomma said. And I don't know anyone who has tried it, for the same reasons.

Those things are a prescription for a virus....you can snoop away without worrying. As for your snoopeeeez....up to them to have their security where they want/need it to be.

No, it's not real. You NEED to run every virus scan you possibly can, and change all your passwords. (And perhaps apologize for the spamming of all your friends.) Those "apps" actually try to steal your information, and post all kinds of spam on walls. (Otherwise known as fishing.)

Do a quick google search, you can read about it.
