Your at the same point we were when my DD was diagnosed. We're all the way across the country, but you've begun a new journey into the land of IEPs and struggles. But, my DD is now in 6th grade, straight A student who calmly tells people who make fun of her spelling especially,"Oh, no I'm dyslexic I can't spell at all!" She laughs at herself and helps other people learn about dyslexia. She knows what type of help she needs and how to ask for it. She knows it doesn't mean she is stupid and knows how to make sure teachers know that too. There are still rough patches - go look up my posts on here - I even got jumped on here a few times. It's a journey and it may not be what you expected but it is worth it to go with them on it.
Feel free to message me if you like.
