Do You like Your Nook?

I was debating on getting a Nook for myself (Xmas gift from the family). They are selling them at a great price right now! I wanted to know how you liked yours. Any issues? Likes or dislikes??

I read that you can only buy apps from Barnes and Noble's online store? Which I'm a big "words with friends" player and that would be a huge bummer if I had to pay to get that on it!

They are so much cheaper then the IPad (which I do have the IPhone).

Thanks for any input :)

What can I do next?

I really enjoy mine. I read a lot and it is fantastic to be able to download and read a book immediately. You also don't have the issue of embarrassing book covers if that bothers you. The book recommendations are great. Sometimes the B&N Nook prices are higher than the paperback. That stinks.
The only problems I've had are running out of memory and naming files on the thumb drive. You can archive books and apps but if you have an app that is large, you might run into memory issues.
It has been well worth the money.

LOVE my nook tablet.
Had a nook color handed that down to hubby got the tablet.
LOVE it. yep you have to pay for words with friends the app is $2.99
Kind of think it's worth the trade off. Pay $2.99 for the app or pay double the cost of the tablet for an Ipad. The nook app is ad free though which is why it costs. The ad free version for the ipad is the same price.

You can only use the barnes and noble app store because apple doesn't play nice with other companies and the Nook has an android for the operating system. Also you can get a refurbished nook for even cheaper ,

What I REALLY love about nook is the Barnes and Noble customer service. They are AWESOME. There was an issue with my first nookcolor, took it into the store , I didn't even buy it from barnes and noble but they replaced it , the device was 6 months old. My son then broke the replacement ( cracked the screen) , it was out of warranty and they replaced it for $65 with out the extended warranty, it costs more than that to buy a replacement screen and do it myself.

ETA: the memory on the Ipad is not expandable, you get what's on there, you can add a microSD card to the nook and expand the memory. I have a 32GB in mine.

My only complaint is their app's, they kinda suck. I did pay for Words With Friends, but it was like 2 dollars, and now I don't have to deal with the stupid commercials, so not a big deal.

Beyond that I love it, and have no complaints.

M. G, there's two ways to do it. Just go into the book's section and type in free books, or go on the computer, go over to the free section, find a book then type it into the nook by name. It takes a little work to find books, but well worth it.

Because of my husband's job he has to test a lot of the new tablets at home so we have have the kindle, the Nook , and the ipad etc. My favorite one is the nook (I don't have the game you mentioned so not sure if you have to pay for it),
My husband's favorite is the kindle fire and is also my daughter's favorite. Our least favorite is the ipad since we use the tablet for reading purposes. For surfing the web the ipad has more screen size but I already have a laptop so for me the Nook wins hands down and second the kindle fire.
Oh and Barnes and Noble has tons of books, magazines, apps that you can get. I love my Nook :o)

I enjoy my Nook, BUT. I haven't figured out how to "borrow" books from the library, so all the books I have on it I have purchased. My hubby got it for me about 2 years ago for my B-Day (I honestly had no idea what it was when I opened the gift!!). Anyway, my hubby buys this thing for me knowing that I go to the library about once a week, and then starts complaining that I'm buying books!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's great as a reader, but I'm not thrilled with the selection of apps. They don't have a ton for my young kids, and although they aren't allowed to use it much, I would love some more educational apps for them. I heard about a mini ipad coming out? I'm not sure on the price, but maybe that would be something to look into?

Love it! I play words with friends on mine obsessively. I have never paid for an app, ever. I have the amazon appstore and I download the free ap of the day often. I have to admit I do get the "this app is not compatible with your device" more often than I would like, but I can't complain too loudly about free, right?

I read on my Nook and play games. It is not the best for navigating the internet, but you can do it. That would be my biggest complaint about the Nook.

Yes, I like it, but I wish I had a touch screen. I have one of the older, original models. I use it strictly as an e-reader. The games it has are pretty simple and boring. If you want more flexibility than just an e-reader you might want to look into something else. I'm not familiar with some of the newer more tablet-like models of the Nook. Maybe that would meet your needs.

Generally, I find my Nook easy to use and since I have a Barnes and Noble account it's easy for me to download books.

I purchased the NOOK Tablet as a first tablet for my daughter; for that I think it's fine. They have good interactive books and educational apps designed for kids. However, I'm planning to buy an iPad (probably the Mini) for myself because there are so many more apps, you can do so much more with it, and I think it's just an overall superior product (albeit overpriced - just as all Apple items are). I think that the NOOK is a good product, but the iPad is superior.

Get the new iPad mini. I love mine and I also have a Nook Simple and the first Nook they sold. If you want a nook get the Nook Color or the Nook Simple with the backlight.
