0Have one LOVE it.
A Nook Tablet is an android tablet pc.
You can do every thing you listed above on it and more. Watch movies, ti's got a netflix app and it's got a micro SD card slot that holds up to a 32 GB micro SD card that you can add movies and music on to. Kindle fire you don't have that option.
The Nook Tablet 16GB is faster than the Kindle fire in every test they threw at it because it has more RAM . And you can get books in more places than the Kindle. Kindle only can get books from Amazon. Nook uses the epub format .
And with Nook You can go in to the store and deal with ACTUAL people FACE TO FACE if you have a problem. The customers service at Barnes and Noble is AWESOME.

The price point in this article isn't right anymore but here's a good comparison article . http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/18/kindle-fire-vs-nook-ta...

I recently purchased the NOOK Tablet (16GB), mainly for my daughter's use as a starter tablet. (I didn't want to spend the money on an iPad for her since she's only 5 years old.) I also purchased the Extended Protection Plan 'just in case'. She really loves it (and so do I). She plays music, kid-friendly games, and she especially likes the books that are interactive and give us the option of recording ourselves reading the text. NOOK has a lot of child-friendly apps (probably not as many as iPad, but still a lot) & many of them are free. I receive emails on it and read a few magazines. (I still prefer to read real books!) It picks up the free wi-fi at our public library, any Barnes & Noble store, our home network, Starbucks, etc. without having to pay extra on our monthly internet provider bill. I'm a big Barnes & Noble fan, so the NOOK was a no-brainer for me. They always have someone at the NOOK kiosk in B&N available to help with any questions, but it's very easy to navigate and comes loaded with a full instructional manual. As a B&N member, I also was able to get a $50 discount, which covered the price of the extended warranty. We love our NOOK!

I have the nook tablet and love it. I do exactly those things that you mentioned and much more. We also use it for our kids to read and play games which is really nice and very exciting for the kids when we pull it out for them. However, my husband has the nook color and we discovered that the speed and capabilities of them are pretty much the same. You can do everything the same except for the memory, but add in an SD card and you could store just as much stuff (if not more) than the tablet.

So... I would suggest that you save the $50.00 and get a nook color!

My parents have a Nook Tablet and have had difficulty getting their email to set up & work correctly (I'm pretty tech-savvy and had no success either). Also, the number of apps is limited. I would recommend an Android tablet--you can get them for about the same price, and you can download both the nook and kindle apps for free (I've found that done books are only available on one or the other, our are much cheaper on one or the other). There are also tons of other free apps, and I've had good luck with my email and such too. Amazon even has an app store that features a free app every day--and I've loved some of the ones I've gotten! I've found the best deals online for android tablets. Good luck, and I hope you find something that works well for you! : o)

I wanted the Kindle, still would prefer the Kindle, but not cause the Nook is bad. I have amazon prime which I can't get on my Nook, but could on a Kindle. Beyond that one minor thing I love it.
