I am a mother of 2 who is in my 38th week of pregnancy and at my last ob appointment my doctor said I was dialated to 2 amd 60 pecent efaced she stripped my membranes and said she would try again if it doesn't work but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of ways to induce labor I feel like I am going to eploid and the pelvic pressure is to intense. Any advice would be greatly appriciated.
thank you all so much I think I tried them all but to no avail I guess he'll come when he's good and ready. I have until Jan.2nd then Ill be induced I already measure 45weeks but my first was 9lbs. so I imagine its just another big baby again thank you all so much!!!
Have sex! There's something in semen that can induce labor this late in the game.
It probably won't feel very good but that's not the end goal anyway.

For me, I really believe that gentle dancing to my favorite old rock music, with a lot of hip movement helped me bring on labor. I was desperate because they were going to induce me if i was even a day late, and i really wanted to do it naturally. I also massaged pressure ponits on my ankles, palm, and toes (can find on the web...). I also used evening primrose oil tablets (you can find info about this on the web, too, to find the dosage. Look at midwife websites--sorry don't remember the exact locations). Also, just talk to your baby and tell him that it's safe and best for him to come on out, with his chin tucked down. Best of luck.

I was in the same boat two weeks ago. I used a breast pump for 15 minutes every hour for four hours, went to bed and woke up in labor at 1am. I had already had my membranes stripped twice, done acupuncture and taken castor oil earlier in the week, so I don't know if the pumping is what did it, or if it would have happened anyway, but....it's worth trying.

Stripping doesn't always work but it can help. With my first I had more contractions afterwards and maybe dilated another cm. With my second it sent me into labor immediately! Walk (but don't exhaust yourself, you'll need the energy for labor), try having sex, any exercise will help. Go get a great massage or a pedicure and let them know you are trying to get labor going. Don't do the whole nipple stimulation thing unless you want really strong contractions. And the mineral oil will give you horrible diarhea that may feel like contractions but you might not get any labor results and end up with hemmorroids. Take a warm bath, lay down and put your feet up, anything to relax. Good luck!
I truly believe in the power of castor oil. I took it and four hours later went into labor. Try one tablespoon to 20oz of oj and guzzle.

My doctor did the same thing to me with my oldest son. She then said to go out and have a very heavy meal (I had mexican food!) and walk a lot.
Very early the next morning, I went into labor!

I was only 2cm dilated and my midwife suggested getting into a hot shower. I went to 7cm dilated within one hour and delivered within a few hours. Two other women I know took a little castor oil to induce labor. I can't tell you how much they took, but that worked in both cases. One almost didn't make it to the hospital on time, so be careful with this one.

Too late, I know, but the only advice I didn't really see was nipple stimulation and a LOT of it (like hours if that's what it takes, with the added advantage of toughening your nipples for breastfeeding) Try it during sex, with a breast pump (somebody mentioned that) or just manually.
well for my last delivery 2 months back i was 2 cm wjen i went to the hospital, they made me walk for an hour and i was 4 cm.. i would say walk and sex.. sperms have prostaglandins in them that dilate the cervix , but still this can be for sure, dont worry about it even if you are not dilated and labour is not starting this means babys lungs are not fully mature or you need an induction ,,,that will solve the problem ,good luck
and dont take castor oil that will give you bad cramps
My friends tell me to eat Spicy Mexican or Indian Food. I can't handle that. But sometimes it has worked. Have them check with u/s to make sure. I should have had an u/s done 2 days before actual due date. They did it three days after actual due date and he was sitting on his umbilical cord and I was low on amniotic fluid. So, obviously pitocin and epidural and voila!
I read somewhere to eat a whole can of pineapple, so when I was a week late I tried it. Not sure that is what did it but I went into labor the next morning. It won't hurt you so it is worth trying!
Go have a pedicure. Tell the pedicurist to hit the pressure point in your feet that makes you go into labor. I was over a week late with my first and NOTHING worked. When I was ready to go with my 2nd, I told the pedicurist to work on the pressure point and I went into labor about 24-36 hours later. Hey, it's worth a try, and your feet & toes will look good too! No suggestions on how to make it happen faster as my first was tooo stubborn and my last two were C-sections. I can tell you three is MUCH different than two, and I wish you a very safe and happy labor.
The only thing I can suggest is walking and sex. I am not sure if you can have sex when they strip your membranes?? Never had it done so sorry. I also wanted to comment on your pregnancy! Wishing you luck with 3 kids. I have a 3 and 4 yr old and am 24 weeks pregannt with baby 3! I noticed your two are younger than mine and also close in age.
I had my son at 38 weeks- was at 3cm though for three weeks prior. I walked, vacummed, gardened, lots of squatting positions-- and it helped- by the time they admitted me I was going on my 5th cm and 90 percent effaced. You already have a two year old and a three year old- your my hero! Good Luck!

I know what you are feeling. I went through the same thing. My doctor stripped my Membranes and nothing happened. I tried walking, sex, castor oil, hot baths, everything but none of them worked. I came to the conclusion that the baby will come when he/she is ready. Enjoy the last few nights of sleep you get. I finally had to be induced due to high blood pressure. Good luck!
