Cleanse/Detox Recommendations?

I've been feeling a little crappy lately (physically), and I was thinking about doing some kind of detox to flush out my system and get myself back on track. I'm not looking to do something drastic (not trying to lose weight, take a cocktail of pill/supplements, or starve myself)...just something to help me perk up and clean out, maybe over a few days. Any recommendations?

Thanks!!

Try Juicing.
Do you have a juicer or one you can borrow? If not, the low range at Walmart go for around $25-30. Juicing your own organic fruit juices is a great and gentle way to start. Just start with a glass with your normal healthy breakfast- you will be hooked! I like Apple-Carrot. One organic apple and two organic carrots. leave on the skins, but core and seed the apple. This juice is so yummy and a good way to introduce fresh juice to your taste buds. Sometimes I add an inch of fresh ginger- a nice zing and good for your tummy.

My absolute favorite?

The Apple Cleanser

two apples cored and seeded
1/2 organic cucumber
2 kale leaves
1/2 beet- scrubbed- you can juice or leave the leaves- your choice
1 stick celery

Juice all together and enjoy. I like it over ice; it has a subtle earthy flavor like really healthy fruit punch. My son calls it purple juice.

Tonight I am not that hungry so I'm having Apple-Cabbage juice in place of dinner. Not as strange as it sounds- I promise! It tastes like apple juice with a kick of spice. One apple and 1/4 of a cabbage.

Juicing is a healthy, genltle way to cleanse and scrub out those cells! Plus deeeelicious! Hope this helps! BTW I noticed your name is Mama to be. So, if you're pegnant, this is still safe and super healthy.

Try drinking a shot glass full of organic apple cider vinegar every night. It has to be the kind with the "mother" that you get a health food stores, not the table variety. Do this for a few days and you will be cleaned out. This kind of organic vinegar actually tastes pretty good- not too strong or horrible. I read about this once when I was suffering from a cyst on my ovary and in the fallopian tube. After months of suffering, I finally tried this. The cysts I had, that were quite large, were gone in 4 weeks.
The "mother" is important and great for your health. Also, as crazy as it sounds, apple cider vinegar helps neutralize the acid in your body. A lot of times when we feel crappy, it's because our body pH is off and is generally too acidic. Hope this helps!

Would you consider a fast drastic? 3 to 10 days?...I did it for 10 days once and never felt better. I recommend the master cleanse for this..but a juice fast is just as effective only not as nutritionally complete. If going without eating really isnt your thing try to do a day on just fruit..the next day just fruit and raw veggies..the next day just fruit raw veggies and(meatless) soup. The day after that raw fruit , veggies,(meatless)soup and (meatless)salads.....The day after that resume to healthy eating and use junk sparingly.

remember that stupid old "cabbage soup diet".....well, I firmly believe that fad diets are not good for you....

BUT the soup does work well as a cleanser! I use it when I feel as if my diet is "all bad" & needs to be turned around. It's a way for me to break bad habits (such as carb overload & cravings). I eat the soup about once a year, ususally in the spring.

After a good fiber breakfast, I do one day of soup....as much as I want....& lots of water & decaf tea thru the day. The next day I do a fiber breakfast again....& use the soup as my vegies for lunch/dinner....along with grilled chicken & a glass of milk. Other than the fiber at breakfast, I avoid all breads & snacks thru the 2 days. It is amazing how much better I feel after the 2 days.

I know this is not the right way to live/eat..but it does work well for me as a cleanser. I think the V8 base for the soup, along with the cabbage, is the key. It truly does help me break my bad habits....dang, being a carb lover!

try to google the steps (if you havent already had one) on how to prepare for a colonoscopy.. My husband had to go through this process of drinking some kind of juice, them drinking miralax every so hours, and only drinking clear solids for a day or two... he said he never felt better. He said it made him feel lighter, and healthier, and he lost 10 lbs. so that only made it better... It will get you all cleaned out.

Here is my Detoxifying Smoothie that I think you will really like. It’s really quite yummy! I adapted it from my time working at Dr. Jubb’s Longevity in the East Village. It takes good enough and is easy enough to make EVERY week- and is well worth it for the benefits you will receive. The lemon and oil help detoxify and restore the liver and will help boost your immune system. Turmeric is full of antioxidants and anti-microbial properties, and is an amazing blood purifier. The cleaner the blood the more beautiful the skin, so turmeric can help with acne and other skin imbalances, as well as increases one’s energy.

Try making it every Monday for breakfast to start the week off feeling more cleansed and refreshed, or try having it 3 times this week for a nice liver booster.

The Weekly Detox Smoothie:

Blend the following:

- Juice and pith of 1 lemon (only throw out the peel)
- 2 pears (seeded and cored)
- 2 apples (seeded and cored)
- 3 Tablespoons flax oil
- ½ teaspoon of Turmeric
- ¼ teaspoon of Celtic sea salt
- Pinch of Cayenne pepper
- 3-4 cups filtered water

21 days 21 pounds, the Martha vineyard detox. It's nit a weight loss fast/detox but u lose wight so I guess that's why she put it in the title. But she's a naturopathic doctor. I have studied a. Lot if different cleans fast and detox, this one is good and you will feel great. You font have to do the full 21, you can do 3, 7 or keep going until you had enough. I would try for at least 7. I heard about this from the African American side kick lady on the Howard stern show (I wasn't watching his show but she was on Larry king live promoting it because she had done it and loved it, stern is gross by the way, but just explaining how I heard about it) my mother in law tried it and gave me the book so by then I had heard about it a few times. You will learn alot and ur body will feel great. Buy it used from amazon. Master cleanse is good but intense and I wouldn't do it for a first cleanse. Good luck. Hcg is also a good detox but don't do it if h don't wNt to lose weight. You will lose about 5-7 pounds per week.

Check out www.jointhereboot.com. This is what I'm going to do. It gives a great guide on which kind of reboot/detox you should do. I'm saving up for my juicer, but in the meantime I've cut out most meats from my diet and am trying to cut down on other non-veggie foods in preparation. Even just taking those small measures has helped me feel better.

Eating raw fruits and veggies will do it.
The pills/diets are dangerous.
