My family will be moving to McKinney from Boulder, CO in a few months and I'm trying to find out which soccer organization would be best for my daughter. She will be 12 this summer and she has been playing soccer since she was 3. We are looking for a competitive league that will travel locally. Any info on the soccer clubs in the area would be greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

Solar soccer club has a division based in McKinney and they practice off of Industrial and Airport Rd(SE McKinney)and have a whole complex of fields for the entire club. My son and nephew play on the 02 boys, my nieces also play for Solar and are 8 and 12. We have been very happy with the club.
Manchester is also in McKinney but I think their practice places change according to what day of the week it is. FC Dallas is out of Frisco and wouldn't be that far either. We are a big soccer family, with tons of experience. Let me know if you need any more info or help. Welcome to Texas!

My son was in competitive soccer, there are many very good teams in the DFW area. Plano Youth Sports (?) should have a list of those in the area.
I wish you the very best in your move.

There are links posted on McKinney's recreational soccer website for information o competitive (club/select) programs: http://www.mckinneysoccer.org/default.aspxare - in the left nav bar, click on "Registration". You should also check the North Texas Soccer Association website: http://ntxsoccer.org/default.aspx. Their publication -- The Pitch -- contains tons of info about competitive soccer in this area.

J.,

Welcome to Texas! We are new to the McKinney are ourselves (within the last 6 months) and are also highly involved in soccer. My oldest son who is 12 also play competitive soccer as well as ODP. My 9 year old daughter recently joined the Samba development academy and she is loving it. While Andromeda is a fantastic club for boys (best he has ever been in) it still could use some improvement on the girls side. However, Samba is great. It feeds into a club call the D'Feeters and they focus on training girls. Their link is http://www.dfeeters.com/ and you can get more info. I do have to tell you that it is a drive. There is not much nearby in the way of highly competitive soccer. If however, you are looking for competitive soccer that is at the DII level I highly recommend the Manchester United club. They are smaller but offer a very good program. In fact my husband and I offer training in partnership with them for kids in the younger age brackets. Their link is http://youth.manchestersc.com/. I hope this helps as it took us 6 months to figure things out as we came from the Austin area. If you need further info or help you can call me at ###-###-####.

My little girl plays on the Texans which has been around for maybe 20 years (they were around when I was a kid, as well as dfeeters and Sting) Also good ones are Solar, Sting FC Dallas. I was looking at my kids schedule as to who all we play :) No matter what it is a drive. So look for the one where you will most happy at. I know we just started the season. So teams are not taking new players now.
Good Luck!

Email Chris Stricker, head HS coach for Coppell HS girls team. He is well connected in the club teams as he is a top coach in the state. I used to coach his JV teams - very good Christian, too, so he'll send you to someone who will nurture your daughter into a decent person, too! Tell him I sent you. He will probably be able to put in an all-important recommendation to a coach for you, too. He doesn't have kids in the programs yet to muddy up his opinions either with any specific loyalties.
