HI there, I think my cell is just dead, I tired to take the battery out and see if that would help and then turn it on but it didn't turn on. I am letting it charge, any other suggestions besides taking it in the store. I wont be able to do that till later this evening and expecting some phone calls today...
Thanks

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone, it was finally able to charge up. I will take it in sometime to see what might be going wrong as this is not the first time this has happened. I can clean it that is a good idea. It is a bit older but I use it all the time we have a land line but don't use it, maybe I should start.
I didn't have any messages so that is good.
Thanks for your help

It should work without the battery if it's on the charger (I think). So you should be able to test if it's the "dead battery" that way. You should be able to let it charge and see if it powers up. If not, then I think it's another issue.

Your phone can still receive and send calls if it's hooked up to the charger. However, if it's not charging, there may be something wrong with the charging 'port' - I have a Sprint phone and that happened to me a couple weeks ago - the battery died because the phone would not receive a charge from either the wall charger or my car charger. Sprint had to replace my phone as it was irrepairable.

You probably need a new battery.
In the meantime, all your cell phone from your home phone or another cell phone, hit * or # (depending upon your phone set up) and enter your voicemail code to check your messages from the phone you are calling from.

If you have access to a land line or another cell phone, contact the carrier and ask for technical support. They should walk you through, and if it's under warranty, they should be able to provide direction on replacement.

My guess is that the battery will need to be replaced, but I'm NO expert.

Probably need to tell us more.. What specific phone do you have? Who is your provider? How long have you had the phone?

If you have AT&T, do you have an older, working cell phone that you could swap the SIM card into? With AT&T, if one phone isn't working, you can just pop the SIM card into any other AT&T phone & it will automatically work with your current number/plan.

You could also try cleaning the battery contacts with a little bit of rubbing alcohol (put a little on a Q-tip). A pencil eraser can also help clean off the contacts.

Will it work if it's hooked up to the charger? Mine does that even when the battery's totally dead.
