What Cell Phone and Company Do You Use Specifically?

Hi Moms! I have the same cell phone from 6 years ago. Basically, it's just a phone! Being a business owner, it's time to take the big technology leap and get with the program. I don't know enough to make an educated choice. I mostly need it for internet and email access and the phone, of course! I don't like to (and am not quick) at text messaging, but I do like the phones that have the full keyboards as opposed to the one's that you have to keep hitting the same button. I guess if you can let me know your likes/dislikes and what phone you use, that might help me make a decision. It will lock me into 2 more years so I want to make sure I pick the right one! However, anything is an improvement from what I have now! Also, what company for service do you use and have you had good/bad experiences and with which ones? Thanks Moms!!!

Hey F.,

I have at&t and an IPHONE. I've had them 2 years now and the phone since about it came out. It's great with text messaging, email, internet, maps and directions on the dime, along with calender, music, games, camera, weather, and just about everything you ever want with a phone. I'd have to say Verison and AT&T are the most reliable, largest and fastest networks out there. The two have the least amount of dropped calls along with the best customer service and cell phone companies can provide. My sister in law has Verizon and so do my neices and there phones are almost as cool/or just as cool as mine. I think you should write down everything you phone needs to do before getting a phone that way you know you are getting the phone that dos everything for you. The only reason I picked AT&T over verizon was because of rollover minutes, some months I talk more than others in this comes in real handy. Also if I change my plan with minutes or whatnot At&T doesn't make you renew your contract along with they take off 5 dollars each month of the cancelation fee, if you wanted to do so.

As for the phone I have is wonderful the battery last a very long time and only takes about 30 mintues to charge the whole thing and keeps track of everything. Also, most banks and internet sources have websites that make it easier to view with this phone or even a blackberry. This screen is practically indistrustable which is good becuase I have two kids and break everything.I take my phone to the gym to listen to music or check my email. I also have an IPOD adapter in my car so I can listen to music or put movies on for the kids for long trips. I can honestly say I dont have any dislikes to the phone or service(Except I need more memory, HAHA). I never had to send the phone to apple or replace any parts for any reason. I've been down to the apple store to get the hardest case for it, there was about 3 assoicates per customer on a saturday. So they were awesome too!Good Luck and welcome to the new age!!

We've been with Tmobile for about 7 years now, no problems or issues, great coverage. The family plan allows us unlimited time between all of us that doesn't go against our monthly minutes, and we've added the internet service that is also unlimited. I have the G1 phone - it's the touch screen phone (like the Iphone but without AT&T) and I LOVE it. My husband has always been a Blackberry guy, and had several over the years, they're very durable and great for versatility...but after messing with my phone he converted and now has the G1 also. We both love our phones.

I have AT&T/Cingular (not sure which name they're using now). I've been with them since we first got a cell phone in '99. Their coverage is good; problems are few and far between. Don't forget to look into who you'll be talking to and which phone-to-phone program they have. I have a lot of family with Verizon or T-mobile that would like me to switch so we could talk for free. The company you choose will narrow down your phone choices a lot.

The phone is a Nokia Tilt. It has a full keyboard that I never use, but for having the keyboard it is nicely compact. I'm partial to Nokia; the rest of my family doesn't care for it. My husband got the Tilt because he wanted (oops, needed ;) ) a PDA and couldn't find one that wasn't a phone. He does his research online and checks customer reviews as much as they are available.
I've recently started having trouble with the Tilt. Whatever happens is easily dealt with, but it's annoying.

It is 2 years old and that's about how long electronics are in good condition. My husband does his best to get a free or discounted phone with our contract renewal. It usually works, but it's getting harder. We'll probably have to switch plans to get a phone next time.

Hiya: I was with ATT forever and my husband was with cricket together our cell bill was about $100. We switched over to Alltel recently because they offered us the best deal (family plan). We both got new phones motorola hint(motorolas version of blackberry) with email and internet access and our bill only increased $15 dollars a month (insurance and internet service). Ive always had just a phone but now that Ive upgraded I really like it. Most importantly, I never have dropped calls. The only downside was that they will only match the online offer if you remind them too and even then, make sure they match the offer. Alltel was recently bought by Verizon so anyone in Alltel/Verizon networks will be free to you. I wasnt thrilled with ATT and Im glad I switched to Alltel.

Hi F.,

VERIZON's BlackBerry® Storm™ 9530 smartphone has everything you're looking for. I asked my daughter-in-law who does corporate wireless sales for VERIZON and she says this phone was made for business application. It has internet, e-mail, and QWERTY (Duh, I didn't know what this was either but it's means a keyboard for typing instead of having to hit that one key til you get the letter you need, I hate that too! QWERTY are the 6 first letters across the top of a keyboard, go figure). Plus a whole lot of other things that you'd never thought you'd need but once you have you won't be able to live without Like a camera for taking pics of an accident and even GPS with turn by turn. I kept my VERIZON service here from NY and I've never lost a call or hit a dead zone except up on Superstition Mountain but NO ONE has service there. It was very handy during that last power outage. Good luck.

I recently splurged and purchased an iPhone with AT&T. I didn't think I would like the touch screen but its an awesome little phone. Perfect for accessing the internet and email, easy to text with. I absolutely LOVE IT and recommend them to everyone who wants a good internet phone. It also has a ton of other cool applications that are both fun and practical. I honestly do not know how I would survive without one now.

Hi F.!

We have Verizon Wireless for our cell phone company. We've had them for two years now. We love them! If we have a problem with our phone, they are there to help us, and if they can't, they immediately replace the phones and send them overnight/two day shipping. The customer service center people are very easy to work with and are very courteous and polite along with being professionals.

I would go on their website: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/index.html

and check out their options for phones. They have great plans and different phones to choose from. :-)

My favorite brand of phone is LG. They are most reliable. I don't advise getting a Samsung as they have problems quite often. Motorola is ok, but we had the Motorola Razor V3's, and I had to change out my phone twice because it was defective. Right now we have Nokia. It's been great so far. We didn't need all the neato gadgets that most LG's have, so we got the Nokia Dark Knight.

For buisness, I would suggest LG for the quality. :-) Unless someone else has a business phone that suggests another option.

I went on Yahoo Answers and did a poll on what brand of cell phones people experienced and liked most for the quality and most of them answered LG. :-)

Hope this helps. Have a good night!
G.

My husband and I and our furniture delivery and moving company have been very happy with our Cricket phones since year 2001, when they came to Phoenix. We have had cell phones/car phones for over (20) years now. I refuse to sign any contracts. Been there, done that. Cricket is no contract, month to month. We are in the process of changing to Boost. Better deal, better coverage. $ 50.00 per month, which includes taxes, no contract, unlimited nationwide talk, text, web and walkie-talkie, etc. If you purchase your phone and sign up at Best Buy, they will transfer your address book at no charge, which I understand is a $ 15.00 value any where else. I have looked at Boost phones at Wal-Mart, Radio Shack and Best Buy. I don't believe Boost has any free standing brick and mortar (B&M) stores. They are merchandised through other retailers and the www.boostmobile.com. Their website has tiny gray letters on a black background and is VERY hard to read. I'd be happy to respond via email or phone with any specific questions. And no, I do not work for either Cricket or Boost. LOL! I do, however, like getting a good value for my money and hate to see people getting ripped off. Choosing a cell phone is an important decision and a sizable monthly expenditure.

We have Verizon and have never had a problem. We've always had great coverage. I believe I saw in Consumer Reports that they were very highly rated for our area. You may want to check out the Consumer Report magazine article on cell phones. I can't help much as far as the phones...mine is pretty basic and I only text a little. Make sure the plan you get includes texting if you plan to do that.

I have had Verizon for about 6 years now. We absolutely love them. Verizon has many different plans. They have tons of different phones. My husband had always used the LG brands because he enjoyed the keyboard. He had the internet and all of the fancy features. I am not a texter or a internet user from the phone, so I do not have 1st hand knowledge. Hope this helps.

Hi, F.! I use a Blackberry Pearl with service through Verizon Wireless and am very pleased with it. Before that, I had an LG Envy (I think) that flipped up to show a full keyboard. I loved my LG, but I needed access to my email and a calendar that would sync with my computer due to business obligations. My husband had been using the Pearl for awhile and decided it would make a good birthday present for me (one year ago). He now carries the regular Blackberry (full size), but I still like the Pearl. The Pearl is compact (fits easily in my purse but doesn't get lost) and able to sync my computer's email and calendar. I am able to schedule an appointment one time and it's automatically placed on all my electronic calendars! Life is so much easier now. I can access the web on the go, check and send emails, plus the calls/texts of course. I love it! It does have two letters per key and takes a bit of getting used to, but it also has auto-text features that "fill-in-the-blanks" for you and is usually right. I recommend you check it out.

I really like my Treo. I recently switched to a Palm Centro because I needed a new phone and it was cheaper. Both do what you're looking for, but I preferred the Treo because it was a smarter Smartphone and did more. Also, if you have Sprint like I do, they are coming out with an awesome new phone called the Pre very soon (supposed to be April or May) that my husband and his brother won't stop talking about. It's supposed to finally be a phone that rivals the iphone. I need a new phone (my daughter gave my Centro a bath and it doesn't work well anymore) and I'm holding out for the new Pre. If I had AT&T I would love the iphone because I have a Mac computer and they sync seamlessly. My Sprint plan is so much cheaper than I would spend with AT&T (we've been with them a long time and have a great deal) that I can't justify switching over just so I can get an iphone.

I love smartphones (Pocket PCs and phone all in one) and I will never go back! It is the best tool. I am a stay-at-home mom, and I use it a ton as a tool to simplify my life and keep things running smoothly. If I get an email with an event, I put it automatically on my calendar on my computer. If I'm out and about and need to put something on my calendar I put it on the phone calendar. I regularly sync the phone with my laptop so that the calendars on both have the same info and it's always backed up. I have a running grocery list as a task on my phone's task list. I always have my contacts with me. I even have a gift list in my "notes". If I hear my husband or someone mention something they want or like, I immediately write in the gift list on my phone so when birthdays come around I have a list of ideas for each particular person. I have music on a memory card that I put in my phone so I can always listen to music or books on tape.

We have had sprint for the last 4 years and never had a problem. The biggest advice is to see who covers your area, we were going to change to AT&T to get iphones but get no service at our house (which we found out from a friend when they were visiting). Also when you have narrowed down to phones I would go to consumer reports and check review each phine to know which will suit you best.
