Budget Hair Cut - South of the River

I'm thinking of breaking down and going to a budget hair salon like Cost Cutters. Does anyone have any experience with one south of the river (Eagan, B'ville area)?

I have a stylist that I adore, but she is a bit far away and I'm currently unemployed and can't really afford it. So sad to say that, but budget trumps pride at this point.

I have blonde shoulder length hair in what I think is basically a long graduated bob with side swept bangs. I do have a lot of hair that needs to be thined out a bit to lay right though. I don't think it should be too hard, but then again I know nothing about cutting hair.

Appreciate any feedback!! Happy weekend to all!

What can I do next?

I have all one length hair that is below my shoulders and I get it cut at Cost cutters in Inver Grove Heights. I have been happy with my cuts, but I dont have a style, just straight. I love that I don't have to have an appointment and can since I am SAHM I always have to find a time when the kids are happy and will sit patiently for 15 minutes while I get a cut so I love that I can walk in anytime that works for us.

I stopped going to my normal stylist after 8 years because I hated that I had to make an appointment weeks in advance and then had to ask someone to watch my kids and hope that someones schedule would work with my appointment time.

I might call ahead and ask which person at their location is the best with thinning hair and what days they work and plan your visit around that time, but I have had good luck.

A 'good' haircut is very subjective (i.e. we all have our opinions) but I go to the Fantastic Sams in Apple Valley, (on Pilot Knob in the same parking lot as the Super-Target)...I love them and the cut is $16.99 ($9.99 when I went last week & they had a special).

I see someone else posted that Fantastic Sams & Cost Cutters ruined their hair so I'm scared to suggest it - but I have been there 3 times, my 2-year old twice & my husband once & we have all been pleased with the results.

I've been going to Penni who works at Danielle's in Burnsville for years. She charges $28 for a haircut and does a great job. I would not take a chance at a Cost Cutters, my daughter and my ex have had really bad haircuts there, and some that were OK. The problem is the inconsistancy. And the fact that the stylists there are only allowed to do "basic" cuts, that's how they keep their prices down.

I'm in burnsville and I wouldn't..

I have a inverted bob as does my daughter and we have tried to save money and go to a Fantastic Sams or Cost Cutters and they always RUIN our hair and screw it up. If your not going in for a basic trim don't go there.

I got to Cole's Salon in Eagan $28 bucks for a cut by my girl. Not all that much more than a cheapo salon but it's worth it to me. I don't go in often like 4x a year I let my hair get pretty bad before I go in as I'm strapped for money too.
