Definitely use sulfate-free...I have done the brazilian with two different stylists and they both stressed that.
Just did the Rejuvenol brazilian treatment. Sylist gave me Rejuvenol shampoo which has sulfates in it. I heard sulfates are a BIG NO-NO after the treatment.
Like my hairdresser but I know she won't be able to answer this question. Any hair stylists out there??
After spending $250 and 2 hours, I don't want to have these sulfate shampoos strip it out faster than usual.
Thanks ladies for the responses! (Well, most that is. BTW Melissa, there are keratin treatments w/o formaldehyde but good for you for getting in your pointless jab. Good Grief, give productive advice or get a life).
ANYWAY....I called the co. and they said as long as the shampoo doesn't contain sodium chlorate, it will not affect the treatment. I'm not buying that. I've used sulfate free for a long time and will err on the side of caution and continue to do so, Thanks Mama's!

I have no idea what you had done to your hair- but in our house sulfates are a big no-no in anyones shampoo period.
IN our salon we have a whole system that you are supposed to use with the treatment. If this is the shampoo that is made by the same company, then I would say it's ok to use. Otherwise I would look into the sulfate free. You could and should call the salon to see what is recommended. I have just tried the new Paul Mitchell Awapuhi wild ginger line and it is fabulous and sulfate free. I do believe the Brazilian line has their own product line though and if your salon does not carry it then others will.
In my family we use Surface Hair care, which has to be purchased through a salon or we also use Alba Botanica. There are no sulfates or parabens in either of these products. Alba products can be purchased at Meijer, D&W (Spartan stores) and have sometimes even seen them at Target. Good luck!
I do the Coppola Keratin treatment, never did Brazilian. I use Keratin Shampoo, you can get it at any beauty supply store. If you just did it you should have to wait 3 days before shampooing it (hate that part). Also flat iron in between before you wash it the first time, it really helps seal in the keratin. I love the Coppola you don't even notice it growing out, it is gradual and natural. Good luck!!
I have never had this done, but looked it up. This is what I found from the company that created the treatment:
"Do NOT wet, wash or use any clips or pins (or anything) on your hair for FOUR days. After the fourth day, shampoo and condition your hair with products free of sodium chloride and sulfates, which will strip the keratin from the hair."
Hope this helps!
Sulfates also strip your hair of natural oils and make it very dry.
You just spent $250 on a treatment and your stylist who did the treatment wouldn't know the answer to this simple question?
I say simple because given the fact that you know this, she should as well. (Either yes, sulfates are OK, or no they are not).
I say go get yourself some sulfate free shampoo. Even without this treatment, you shouldn't be using shampoo with sulfates.
Good luck!!
I've been doing the treatments every 10 weeks for about a year, and have been told absolutely to use a sulfate free shampoo. How bizarre for your stylist to give you a shampoo with sulfates. Do you love your hair now? :)
Isn't this the treatment that uses formaldehyde? Because if it is, does sulfate free shampoo really matter at this point?
EDIT: *WOW* I need to get a life? I believe the first part of my answer was a QUESTION. I had no idea if you knew the dangers of it or not. How was I supposed to know there is a SAFE version? Come down off your high horse, please. And to ridicule within your answer to point out someone seems a little childish. Get over it.
