The Keratin salon treatment is expensive, but REALLY good! I'm hoping to get it done again for my Mother's Day present :)
My hair is very frizzy and I hate using hair iron everyday. It damages my hair even more. So I am looking for something long term , so that my hair remains straight and frizz-free. My hair dresser suggested brazilian blowout. I almost decided to get it done this week. I just googled for it online and read that they use some chemicals that could cause cancer. Not sure if it's true or not , but it is a pretty big risk to take. So am looking for other options now. Any suggestions for M. ? Thanks!

The less chemicals, the better. Do you have to straighten your hair daily? You are not suppose to wash it daily, so it should last the next day.
Can you wear your hair braided to cut back on the straightening? What about a hat on your weekends?
I use a product called Tigi S Factor. http://www.tigihaircare.com/consumer/en-US/sfactor/defaul...
It is really awesome for defrizzing and adding shine.
i recently tried moroccan oil. it has helped tremendously with the frizz. it is okay if i air dry, but much better if i blow dry, no need for flat iron.
My stylist was telling M. at my last appointment that Brazilian blowouts can ruin your hair. The chemicals that are in it, when combined with the oils/product in your hair, make formaldehyde. The company that makes it knew they were not allowed to put those chemicals in the product, but continued to do it until they were questioned by Canada and the U.S. I don't know if they changed something after that, but my stylist said that it's one of the biggest hair disaster products, because it gives good results at first, then your hair starts to break off and get really wiry.
Anyway, the less chemicals the better. I don't have any good tips for long term, but maybe you could embrace the hair you have, and just use some anti-frizz cream?
I know it is very controversial, but I've been having the Brazilian blowout done for a couple of years, and my hair is healthier than it has ever been. I love it. My salon is testing a similar product that Aveda is coming out with, and I'll probably try that this summer. I have the BB done every 11 weeks.
Have you tried something like a keratin serum you can put on your hair after washing? (a Brazilian blow out is basically a keratin treatment on steroids). If you are okay with the level of curl or wave, the serum might be plenty to lock out the frizz when you let it dry naturally.
That being said... I don't think there is evidence that the Brazilian blowout ITSELF causes cancer... I think what they mean is that there are chemicals IN the formula that could be cancer causing. In California these warnings are posted all over the place (gas stations, beauty shops etc) "This product contains chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm." It's meant to let consumers make informed choices about products they use, but you'd be hard-pressed to find a perm or hair color that DOESN'T need a warning like that.
my hair is more than wavy but not a complete curl ( if that makes sense) and unless I put a lot of hair spray/ gel in it or straighten it its SO frizzy!
I just used the Suave keratin kit ( I got it at Wal-Mart for $12). It isn't permanent, it says not to use again for 3 months after treatment. They do have the shampoo and conditioner for it also that I'm using. It has helped my hair so much! My hair is more straight than wavy and there isn't any frizz. It doesn't even take very long to straighten for the extra straightness.
I only used it a few weeks ago.. so I can't tell you how its going to look after 30 days or closer to the 3 month mark that you can use it agian. But so far Im happy with the results.
It has cut getting ready from almost an hour to do my hair to 15 mins. I can let it air dry and it looks like I spent the time styling it with no frizz when it dries.

Frizz is just your hair crying for moisture. The sulfates in most shampoos and conditioners (along with your straightening iron) can be the cause of this. Try deva care products http://www.mydevacurl.com/. Loreal also just came out with sulfate free line of hair care products.
Everything I've heard about the Brazilian Blowout screams "stay away". But, I have heard good things about keratin treatments.
