Brazilian Blow Out--Post Partum Hair Loss

I'm going on vacation early October and would really like to get a Brazilian Blow Out/Keratin treatment before I go just to make things easier with my hair. I had daughter #2 in May and have been suffering from the worst hair loss for the last few weeks. I can't remember how long it lasted with my first, but should I wait to get the treatment until it stops? Has anyone gotten this treatment while experiencing the hair loss?

What can I do next?

Sallys has a bottle of stuff on the shelf and John Frieda makes a product called 3 day straight. Maybe something a little more over the counter will do the trick without all the side effects

research before you make that decision... one of my closest girlfriends, who is a fabulous hairstylist, will not even work in a salon that does them due to the air contamination - she opened her own salon about 2 months ago. even the supposedly "formaldehyde free" ones really are not.

Congrats on your new daughter!

And wait to have the blow out. While they do add lots of conditioners to your hair during the process it is still hard on even hair that is problem-free. Condition, condition, condition your hair for a few weeks before having it.

And like Jo W said, they contain formaldehyde :-/

I would stay far away from this treatment personally, if you really want to have your hair easy to manage while on vacation go on you tube and learn how to do some fun/easy braids/updo's that take no effort at all.
this is my fav person but to each their own...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPZ4NNjZGKA

Good Luck.

I got it after I finished weaning our son, and I was experiencing some pretty serious hair loss at the time. It turned out wonderful. The only caveat is if you have curly hair (such as myself), when the new hair starts to grow in in it will stand out against the smooth hair of the keratin treatment.

I'm not sure about the treatment, but the hair loss can differ per woman. Usually it's about a month from the hormones, but if you're nursing, it can last longer. Adding more fat to the diet can help tremendously, as I did this with #4, and FINALLY saw a noticeable difference in losing less hair...after the initial shedding which lasted about four weeks. Normally I'll lose hair for months and months and it's awful! I swear I lose half my hair. Hope you figure out what to do!
