Boy Name That Goes with Reid and Henry

We have 2 sons, Reid and Henry, and are considering names for a 3rd son. I lean more towards traditional names then trendy names but I absolutely LOVED Reid when we decided on it. Hoping to find a great name for little brother. Anyone have suggestions? Our last name begins with P.

Names we have considered: Blake, Luke, Pierce (although I'm nervous about his initials being P.P), and Samuel

I like all of those but just don't feel like I've found the perfect one yet. All suggestions welcome!

What can I do next?

I like both Grant and Miles. (other commenters mentioned these names)

Several of the other posts list names and say that they aren't as common, but then proceed with names that have been VERY popular around there. The number of Gabes (Gabriel), Brandon, Brennan, Braden, Trevors and Zacherys around here is astonishing.

But Grant, I only know one. Miles, I know none. And I like them both immensely.

J.,

welcome to mamapedia!!

Congratulations on your newest addition!!

Traditional names:
Benjamin (although the initials BP might not work)
Charles
Richard
Isaac
Jeremiah
Thaddeus (it's an older name, but a strong one)
Thomas
Nolan (it's my boss' name)

Start saying the names you like - like you were calling him in from the play ground and see what works for you that way!

CONGRATS!!

Of those you listed I love Luke! I would probably use Lucas and shorten it to Luke. Currently I also love the names Charles & shorten to Charlie. Good luck...coming up with just the right name is always so hard :)

Luke is a cool name. It's hard to imagine a person named Luke who is not awesome. Samuel is cool, too, I like it.

I feel like Blake and Pierce are kind of.....foofy.

While Reid and Henry are solid. Or something.

Anyway, congratulations!

I'm a little partial to Samuel... ;) but be careful with middle names as well, like if you were to go with Samuel Allen, his initials would be SAP.... but that said, when you find it, you'll know. Congratulations!

I like Luke and really like Samuel. Not a big fan of Blake and Pierce but not my little man to name.

I always envisioned myself with a "Charlie". A little boy with blond hair and blue eyes. Our last name is very similar to Brown so "Charlie" was out! Didn't get the blond hair blue eyed kid either, thank goodness!!! Mine has beautiful dark brown hair and hazel eyes!

Below are some additional names that I think work with Reid and Henry:

Scott
Jackson or Jack
Matthew
Zachary (Zach)
Allen
Nicholas
William
Alexander

My son's name is Michael. Not a big fan of it but hubby wanted a Jr. or mini me as I call him. =)

Congratulations!

Here are some names I like when I think of Henry and Reid:

Owen
Carson
Liam
Brooks

I know of a lot of Jack and Henry brothers. Samuel and Luke go really well with Henry (Traditional, yet current) and Pierce and Blake are a great match with Reid. Anyone of your top four would sound like a wonderful addition to your family.

edit: Nolan and Cole are good suggestions too.

J., I love helping to pick out names, I've done so for both my nieces, and of course, all of my puppies.

Your names both harken back to more historic times - Henry is a very traditional English name, with ties to the monarchy. Reid, is another English name, as a variation of Reed. Although it is a non-traditional spelling, there is tradition behind the name itself. Neither name has Biblical ties.

Based on that, I turned to one of my favorite sites, Behind the Name, to see what other names might fit into your "profile".

http://www.behindthename.com/names/browse.php?type_gender...

Some names never go out of style, and are popular despite not being trendy, such as Christopher, Douglas, Keith, Nathan, Robert, Sean, Vincent, William,

A few more names that have tradition behind them, but are not as popular (& may have become more "trendy") are: Brennan, Carson, Conor, Garrett, Heath, Jackson, Landon, Lyle, Owen, Ross, Taylor, Trevor, Zachary

Take a look @ the link & have fun tracing the origin, meaning & variations of your favorites! T.

I like someone's suggestion of Grant--your names sound very strong & so masculine, and I think Grant fits in with that.

Peter
Bryant / Bryan / Brian
Ryan
Adam
Jacob / Jake
Trent
George
Richard / Rick(y)
Kevin/Kevan
Sean/Shawn
Alexander/Alex
Michael/Mike/Mikey

We've got 4 boys and there names caused a lot of arguments.

I love both Henry and Reid; what great names. Boy names I like:

Alexander / Alex
Adam
Jacob / Jake
William / Will or Liam (I love Liam as a nickname for William)
Ian

Those were my front runners for names when I had my son. I ended up with an "Anderson" aka "Andy" which is my favorite name but it holds a lot of significance for me. If we had had another child (boy), we would have gone with William Henry because I like both names and they are family names. I would have been torn on the nickname though as I love "Liam" vs. the more traditional "Will" but "Will" would sound better with my two sons - Mike and Andy. I wanted "Reid" as a middle name for my daughter (husband vetoed) - I know it's a boy's name but I just love it as a girl's middle name. See why I love your son's names?! Anyhow, I like Reid/Henry/Alex or Reid/Henry/Adam the best but I seem to have a thing for "A" names. Congrats - Boys are awesome!

James is a traditional name that sounds good with the others. I would avoid any name starting with P. Samuel goes well too.

I don't like the name Blake and, though I like Luke, I think it's more trendy right now and doesn't fit with the others as well.

I love Pierce, considered it for my son but our last name sounds too close to "Brosnan" Ha! I think it sounds great with a P last name, in fact I know a Pierce P.

How about
Samuel
Shane
Grant
Nathaniel (Nate)
Gabriel (Gabe)

I feel like you either need a 3 syllable name ( so you have 1, 2, and 3 syllable named kids) or another 1 syllable names (Reid, Pierce... and Henry).

oops didn't see you had Samuel on there already :)
