If it's a lot of bumps, it might be allergies. My daughter has them and it used to show up on her face but now sometimes shows on her tush and up her back when she's had the wrong food. Email me directly if you have any other questions...

Good luck!

I echo everyone's advice to take your daughter to the doctor. My son had similar pimple looking things on his bum. They would flair up... and then look like they were going away... and then flair up again, etc.. Long story short about, 6 month or something into this, I took him in. I couldn't believe it, but they were warts! It was a different kind of wart that looked like a pimple. In fact, in it's mature state, it could even get a white head. It eventually burns out (the reason why it could start to go away), but then because it is a highly contagious virus, more would pop up around it. We had to take him to the dermatologist, and he said it is very common among kids by the way. They put some mud-like burning medicine on it. One time did it for him. He is wart free! I did get one on my thumb at one time, and man did it itch! I felt bad waiting so long to take him in. This may not be the case at all, but maybe someone else out there may read this and identify with it. Another thing, dry skin is more susceptible because it is easier for the virus to get in under the skin. Keep the rest of her body lotioned up.

is she potty trained or still in diapers or pull ups? my daughter gets them also and her dr says its the hair folical getting irritated from the chemicals in diapers and pullups (shes allergic) and that she will have it untill shes fully potty trained. her bottom will be clear but these pimple like things. her diaper rashes look very different. what i do is put diaper rash cream on it at night (thick). i agree with SH on taking her to the dr to see what it is. good luck!

our poor bums get a real beating - heavily used. If it is red, like the other mom wrote - most likely at the stage of irritation, but if it has a white head - white cells beating up what ever problem has persisted - i would make sure the area is clean as can be until healed. I use antibacterial soap on the bottom to keep any redness free of bacteria. But the area is so highly used that i would keep an eye on it and take your daughter to the doctor if it begins to look infected. (Pussy,RED, soar)

Hi N.,

Are you sure it's not a bacterial infection??? My son had what I thought were pimples around his pelvis when he was about 2 (my son has sensitive skin anyway which gets very bumpy from time-to-time, and I thought that he just had particularly large bumpies then)--at a check-up, the doctor noticed them and told me that they were actually a bacterial infection! They were inside the diaper area. She said that since diapers don't breathe that well that it's common for bacterial infections to grow on the skin (they come from the natural bacteria that always lives on our skin) on occasion. She prescribed an antibacterial cream that cleared it up within two weeks. We had to go back for a check-up after that I think to make sure it had totally cleared up.

So my advice--I'd see your pediatrician.

Take her to the Doctor, to make sure what it is exactly. Many things "look" like pimples, but may be something else.

Do NOT "pop" it or do anything to it, without knowing full well what it is.

Take care,
Susan
