HELP! I noticed today that my son (will be 4 in Feb) has a huge cluster of red bumps...I called them pimples, but I don't know what they are really. They're all over both cheeks and even reach his thighs!! I couldn't believe it. I noticed a couple the other day but didn't think much of it...there were only one or two...but today...YIKES. I've been online for a while doing searches and can't find anything useful. I wanted to ask if anyone ever had this situation or heard of this. My husband has horrible eczema and has suffered his whole life. My son has been fine up until recently I've noticed some red irritated patches on the back of his neck and inside of his arms. Anyway, we've been trying to cut out dairy and see if it helps, which it has, but now he has these bumps. I will probably take him to the doctor this week, but figured it doesn't hurt to ask. If anyone has any info...especially anything alternative, I'd love to hear it. Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

My daughter has those also-We put steroids creams on it, She also has Excema on the inside of her arms and behind the knees.
I tend not to worry about it too much.

You should take him to the doctor ASAP..It could be anything. I have eczema on my hands and they look like small water blisters. I have had shingles as well and it starts as little red bumps that itch and if you scratch it, it starts to look like a really bad 3rd degree burn. Shingles is caused by the herpes virus and is usually brought on by stress or change in environment, or something sudden...If he has had chicken pox then he has the herpes virus. Do get it checked out soon.

They could be mollescolum warts. (hope i spelled that right)You should def check with the doctor because they are contaigious. My son had that when he was 4. The doctor told me that they would go away on their own or they may never go away. He began to scratch them and they became infected, i took him to his pcp, who then gave him meds. The infection cleared up but he has marks. Hope helps.

It sounds like it may be a folliculitis, but given that most little kiddos do not have alot of hair on their bottoms, this is unlikely.

It may be molluscum, which is common in young kids. It's a viral thing, similiar to warts but caused by a different kind of virus. If the vesicles aren't bothering him (like itchy) you can just leave it alone and it will go away, but it may take a while (up to two years).

Hi L.,
It's hard to say what the pimple like things are unless they're seen by a professional. I wouldn't want to accept ANY persons opinion on it because we have no clue what it looks like. Since it's spread to his thighs and both cheeks I would get him into the doctor today just in case it's catchy. If it is then others could get it if your sitting on the toilet seat. Let us know what the doctor says it is. Hopefully nothing more than a rash. Good luck!

Hi L.,
That seems really hard to tell what it is, make sure it isnt chicken pox or anything. I do have a product that I sell from Arbonne. It is an all natural, organic skin care line. That would be great for eczema for your husband and your child if interested. These products are great for your skin and there are no harmful, man-made ingrediants. I use it on my daughter and her skin is always soft.

I'm 38 and never get pimples, I've been duly blessed LOL anyway, one time a few years ago I had been staying at a friend's house and developed pimples ALL over my back. I'm also not sure they were actually pimples but they looked the same as pimples and would develop whiteheads and everything. It was really itchy and I couldn'ts stop scratching at them (and did cause myself some temporary scarring there!) anyway finally went to a doctor, I don't remember what it was, but the doctor gave me a cream that made it ALL go away in NO time flat. And I've never had another pimple, and it's been years. It was some kind of dermatological infection. This sounds like what your son has, though in a different place. It's like an antibiotic cream. Cause when they come up suddenly lots of them like that, it's usually some kind of skin infection, and needs an antibiotic.

Do these bumps have a small pinhole sized depression in the middle of them? If so, they might be molluscum. My 5yo and 4yo had them when they were babies. They are unsightly but didn't cause them any discomfort. The doctor put them on medicine but it was such a harsh ointment (same one used for genital warts) and the kids would cry so I stopped giving it. Molluscum is contagious though. It can spread across the body and to others so it's important to wash hands after handling. With both my kids, eventually the bumps began to pop (came to a head much like a pimple and then popped) and then they went away for good. Also no one else in our house ever caught them.

My best advice to you would be to seek the advice of a doctor before taking chances or guessing what is going on....after getting medical confirmation you can know how to procede
