Best Travel/umbrella Stroller?

Hi Moms, I am going on a weekend trip with my baby who will be 7 mos. old when we go - I don't want to drag her VERY heavy Chicco travel system so can you recommend a good travel/umbrella stroller? I have seen some in Babies R Us but they seem very flimsy and, well, blah :) Thanks!

What can I do next?

A long time ago I managed the fantastic baby & toy store Rockridge Kids in Oakland. Get a macclaran stroller. They last... a bit more expensive, but worth every penny. You'll have it and use it for a long time. She'll be 7 months so explore the different reclining options on various models. If you are anywhere near the Rockridge neighborhood in Oakland go there and ask for Christan or Bill or Nishan. 510-601-KIDS.

Good luck!

Hi J. - I agree, the umbrella strollers you see at Babies R Us are flimsy and really are not good for young kids.

I have purchased Baby Planet umbrella stroller from Target.com and it has worked very well. It is more expensive (more than $150) but it is worth it for us. It is much lighter than the travel system strollers and very sturdy compared to the regular umbrella strollers that you see.

I highly recommend the MacLaren Stroller. I bought mine at a local Baby Store but you can get it at Babie r Us.
It's the only stroller I use with my 4 month old. It is very light weight. It has a carrying strp built in and it is very easy to open and close.
It has two little bars that pull out to help the baby keep her legs up versus hanging down. My little girl has taken very good naps in it too!
I am grateful I spent the extra money (as it is not the leat expensive on the market) because it is very easy to use and very comfortable. The colors schems are great as they aren't very baby-ish. This way I can use it until her is a toddler and beyond. Plus as long as I take good care of it, I can use it with my nexy baby (boy or girl).
Good luck and enjoy your getaway!

I am not sure what car seat your little girl is in at 6 months... Still the basic infant one? I also have a Chicco, and the first time I traveled, I took it with me. Not only is it big and bulky, it also got beat up when I gate checked it. I just got the "Baby Trend Snap N Go Stroller" (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2327597) It is the kind that the car seat snaps into, which is good and easy for travel. It is about half the size of the Chicco. Last time I flew, the plane was not full, and by asking at the gate, they gave me a extra seat and let me carry the car seat on the plane and gate check the stroller. Hope this helps! I know it is not a umbrella stroller, but something to think about!
