Dear Jennifer,
I suffered from serious lower back pains during my first trimester when I have my first baby. I used herbal heat packs. That was so helpful. I attached the herbal heat packs onto my waist belt. I felt much better.
I hope you feel better as well.
Bye~

Hi

With my second pregnancy I had a lot of back pain until I was around 20 weeks , then it eased off. You say it has been in your kidneys today , when was the last time you saw your OB , maybe you should make an appointment to rule out a water infection or something like that , also kidney stones can be quite common in pregnancy , I had them in 2 out of 3 pregnancies.

Hope you feel better soon

K.

I had severe lower back pain during my first trimester. Before I knew I was pregnant, I was ready to call the doctor about it. I knew my friend was pregnant before she did when she started complaining about the lower back pain, as well.

I think it sounds normal, but I'd still tell the doctor, just in case it's something. If anything, you'll just feel better to hear it's just another pregnancy symptom!

I had the WORST back pain of my entire life in my 1st trimester! I wasn't even able to walk or get out of a chair properly! It was the most crucial pain I'd had (up to the birth that is!) - but it was only during the 1st tri. Keep monitoring the pains (writing it down to record just in case) and advise/consult with your Dr. if it worsens. Hope you feel better soon!

Hi Jennifer. YES, with both my last pregnancy and now this one, I'm having lower back pain. Last time, I saw a chiropractor which eventually helped. He also showed me some great exercises to do on my ball at home. He said to keep your back strong, you need to keep your core and ab muscles strong. I'm not talking hundreds of crunches. Just gentle bouncing up and down and side to side on the ball, moving your hips like a belly dancer. Once your balance gets good, try lifting one leg and then the other with each bounce, like you're walking while sitting. You can also do some ab squeezes and kegals anytime during the day to keep tight down there. Also try to do some light stretching or yoga every other day or so. Don't overextend. If you don't get regular exercise, try to at least walk every day. I hope this helps. If not, talk to your OBGYN.

you might have a low grade urinary tract infection.. lower back pain is a big indication.. get it checked out TODAY
a low grade urinary infection is how i discovered that i am
pregnant, from what my doctor said, the reason why women are prone to urinary tract infections in the first trimester is
because not only is your body adjusting to the serge in hormones but the fetus is sitting right on your bladder,
thus it doesnt empty completely, and becomes infected

I suffered from this a bit. I would say definitely bring it up to your doctor. and for some at home relief...here is a little trick I used. Grab a woman's sized knee high sock. Fill with White Rice (uncooked :)) and you tie a knot in the end! microwave for 1 minute and voila...you have the best and most flexible heating pad in the world!~ we still have it and use it all the time! don't microwave tooo long...it gets hot! don't want ya to burn yourself!
good luck...and remember. this too shall pass!

I felt that, and had sciatica, all throughout my pregnancy with my daughter. I know several other who had backpains throughout. I would guess that it's normal, though everyone I know who has had it at all has had it the whole time. My delivery was great though, as soon as I got the epidural, didn't have back labor or anything. It was just uncomfortable while I was pregnant.

Jennifer,
As a massage therapist, childbirth educator, and birth doula, I can tell you that this is common. You do not have to bear it, or suffer. Your baby is changing positions a great deal @ this time. You most likely have some structural misalignments that are pressing on nerves as well as affecting soft tissue. Chiropractic care can help to stop the pain and address the underlying issues. This is totally safe during your pregnancy @ any time. I strongly suggest this to all my clients. Massage is also extremely helpful. Feel free to contact me for a reference to a chiropractor that specializes in pregnancy in your area.
