Is this a baby shower for you or for someone else?

I would try looking at community centers near you. You can rent a room for pretty cheap and then just bring in all the food/games. Restaurants are a good idea, but many of them can be expensive. I know First Watch, which has good brunch and fairly reasonable prices, also has a private room to rent and they would obviously provide the food, but it is my opinion that if you're going to have it a restaurant you should be picking up the tab for the entire party.

There are lots of venues in the KC area, but I'm not sure how affordable some of them are! I can't exactly remember the name of it, but there is a cute Victorian Tea Room in Prairie Village right about 83rd and Mission and it is adorable! I looked into having a birthday party there and it was cute. I don't think they do food but they let you bring it in.

Hello, I would check with your church and or friend's church. Also, apartment complex's and/or a neighborhood clubhouse. Sometimes a depost is required and all or half is returned when cleaned up. What time frame, what about outside? You could check with some smaller restuarants, too. Especially, at lunch time or shortly after. Make the menu small, by the time you serve cake everyone is full. Sometimes that works out better by the time you shop and prepare all the food. Good luck......

I hope you aren't throwing yourself a shower. You did not mention who it was for.
We had a party at our local community center and it was $30 for three hours. Check into that. Always clean and you can decorate how you want.
Good luck and God Bless.

Are you looking to provide a shower with all the food/decorations or host one at a restaurant where each person pays their own tab? I'll admit I found the ones where I had to buy a lunch to be a bit odd b/c that reduced how much I could spend on the gift, but everyone did have a great time. The last one I hosted was at a local park under the pavilion. There are so many of these in KC and many are either a first-come, first-serve free reservation or a small fee. I provided a few nibbles and cake - did not host at a meal time so no meal expected - and decorated with a few baby clothes (part of the gift) on fishing lines hanging from the pavilion and each person also decorated a onesie and hung it there to dry. Add a few balloons, maybe flowers and a cooler with drinks and instant shower!

The baby shower is for me. I'm due at the end of Sept,I'm just annoyed that everyone else that is due around that time is already doing one or already has one planned. I'm thinking of the community center being the best choice, I've been trying to do some research on some places but actual banquet halls and event places pop up. Thanks for the help! :)

If you belong to a church they should be able to rent/give you the basement. Try using a park pavillion.
