Baby Girl Name Decision

What a popular subject huh?

I'm due in less than 2 weeks and still don't have a name. We are agreed on the middle name (Elisabeth), but can't come to an agreement on the first. I really wanted something like Cora, Aviana or Rose. My husband likes the names Charlotte, Isabelle, Jade...

I came across the name Rosabelle / Rosabella meaning "beautiful rose". It marries the names Rose and Isabelle/a, but it's uncommon without sounding too weird, (I think), which is what I wanted, Isabelle is the number 1 name in the US for 2011. It hasn't been in the top 500 list, like ever from what I have seen.We have a common and simple last name, so any name works with it.

So, what do you all think:

Rosabelle Elisabeth
or
Rosabella Elisabeth

*I love Rose, Rosie or Bella or Ella as nicknames, so we are okay with that)

Or do you see some other better first name (with Elisabeth in the middle) in the names I listed? I can't talk to family about this b/c they have negative things to say about EVERY name we come up with and it ruins the name for me... and I can't talk to friends about it, b/c one of them is pregnant due a few weeks after me and she is pretty famous for 'poaching' names :)

What can I do next?

What about Rosella? That combines both of them. Otherwise I do like Rosabelle Elizabeth. Good luck!

I totally agree with SweetChaos, Rosalie Elisabeth sounds beautiful. I'm not a fan of Rosabelle or Rosabella, seems like a mouthful with Elisabeth. I'm not big on giving babies names bigger than they are! lol

We had decided our daughter's name was going to be Emily Elizabeth. However, the minute I saw her I knew that wasn't the right name. She left the hospital Elizabeth Marie (a combo of her two grandmothers). Turns out that was the perfect name!!

Wait untill you see her to make your final decision. You will know in your heart what her name is once you can see her in your arms.

Congrats!

Very pretty. But, may be very common. I'm not one to like a common name or nickname. I taught elementary, and hated to call three kids the same name, or have to change their names in some way to differentiate them. But, that is just ME. Your baby. :)

My SIL named her little girl Maia Corrine.

I think Corrine Elisabeth is nice. :)

Charlotte Elisabeth sounds the most elegant to me. Rosabella is already a double-name, so it would make 3 names if added to Elisabeth. But, hey, it's your child, you call...congratulations!

Elisabeth has four syllables, so you might try a shorter name at the front. I think Charlotte Elisabeth is lovely, but Aviana Elisabeth or even Ava Elisabeth might be interesting.

On the other hand, I prefer Rosabella to Rosabelle. Rosabelle has a semi-negative connotation to me, but I'm not going to tell you what it is. ;^)

I'm not a big twilight fan - and Rosabella makes me think 'bella'...so I would go for Rosabelle :). We are expecting a girl soon as well - we toyed with the name Adeline Elisabeth...but I love old school sounding names :)

(I think of all the other names you've mentioned, I really like Charlotte)

I like Rosabelle better than Rosabella.

I like Rosalie, which other people have suggested. How about Rosemary? Too old-fashioned?

Of the other names you mentioned, I like Charlotte and Jade the best.

(Also, I think you can talk to your friends. If your name-poaching friend is due AFTER you, that means you still get to name your baby first, right?)

I agree with Nikki G about giving kids names that are longer than they are, LOL. I knew when I got pregnant with my son with our difficult Irish/German long last name he would need a short first name. We had already agreed on William for the middle name, so Cade was good and it flowed.

I love the middle name Elisabeth and I love that spelling. Rosabelle and Rosabella seem a little too "country" sounding to me, but I am not knocking them. I think the name Chloe goes well with Elisabeth (just don't spell it like that dumb Kardashian bimbo). But out of everything else you mentioned, I like Rose and Jade.

Whatever you pick, it will be a name befitting of a beautiful baby girl I'm sure!

i hear u .. imdue in july .. origionaly i loved the name gianna but everyone in the family was like god thats so italian.. and we're italian but my fiance is irish and i got alot of well if he had an italian last name mayb it wouldnt be so weird .. we deicded on brianna.. it sounds similar but is actually an irish name -cant decide on a middle name though
i like rosabella better than rosabelle .. just be prepared for everyone calling her rose or rosie cuz it will definatley happen if u dont like those nicknames id pick something else .. this is going to throw u off completely but i really like isabella rose (even though u already said elizabeth was the middle name)
we went and bought a book from barnes and noble when we were still deciding on a name it tells you names different forms of the names and their origin and meaning.. all it did for us was make the list longer lol.. there were so many names in there that i wouldve never thought of on my own

Personally I like Aviana Elisabeth however I also happen to prefer names I don't hear very often. Unfortunately the name I chose for my daughter 8 years ago was not popular when it was initially chosen however it has become more so in recent years. You will know her name once you see her or feel it in your heart. :)

I love Rosabelle. I think it's beautiful and unique, with lots of nickname opportunities.
I prefer it to Rosabella, which sounds less unique to me for some reason (so many isabellas around right now)

I prefer names that don't sound made up, because mine did as a child. I also think both options are too long with Elisabeth and don't really "flow". I know someone who named their baby aviana and it just makes me think of the avian flu. I like Cora and Charlotte, maybe Clara or Roslyn? Or Ella, Elle, alessandra, arianna, Amelia, ava, Stella, Delia, emma, Evelyn, Lane, Madeline, natalie, Peyton, Olivia, Reagan, Veronica. Congrats!

Since you like Cora, I have a friend who's name is Corilyn, and I love it!

That said, I think Rosabella Elisabeth is a mouthful. Go with Rosabelle.

I think Rosabelle Elizebeth is such a mouthful, but I am partial to Elizebeth Rose seeing that is the name I gave my miscarried child and have those initials tattooed above my heart. So, I think Elizebeth would make a wonderful first name and you can call her Rose, Rosie, Liz, Lizzie, Lizzie Rose or any other combo.
