So happy to see you picked Claire - such a pretty name that you don't hear very often! My niece is Claire Madeline :)
I'm looking for some good middle name ideas for the name Claire. We have a really short one-syllable last name, so we want something a little longer for a middle name. What sounds nice with Claire?
Also, do you like Claire or Kate better? Just curious!
And who knows...maybe it's a boy, haha! We aren't finding out, since we have one of each.
Wow, thank you so much for your great responses! Claire was my husband's suggestion, and I've been letting it grow on me, but after hearing this response, I'm VERY excited about the name now!!!
We're still several months away from having the baby, but we're pretty sure we've decided to use my grandmother's name as her middle name. So if we have a girl, she will be named CLAIRE BETH. I know we wanted a longer middle name, but we both think this is beautiful. Thank you!!
So happy to see you picked Claire - such a pretty name that you don't hear very often! My niece is Claire Madeline :)
LOVE Claire, but I also love Kate (Katherine) as well. Katherine Claire?
Claire Katherine? Claire Elizabeth?
I do like Claire Elizabeth......nice ring!
That's funny, I have a friend, and two of her little girls' names are Claire and Kate! Hers is Claire Renee.
How about:
Claire Elisabeth
Claire Angelina
Claire Sophia
Claire Natalie
Ooh, and I love Claire Catherine
Or similar to the last posters suggestion, how about Katherine Claire, shortened possibly to Katie Claire... I think Katherine Claire is my fav...
What a beautiful choice for a name - Claire is so pretty. I like Claire Katherine- that way you could have both your choices in one!
claire grace sounds really nice are claire faith it sounds nice i really like the sound of claire grace:) good luck best wishes god bless
Claire is a great name. Not as common so if you should have your girl then she will definitely be unique.
Claire Kathleen
Claire Elyse
Claire Marie
Claire Antonia
Claire Alyssia
Claire Elizabeth
Claire Lynette
I LOVE Claire! My friend has a Claire Olivia. They also have a one-syllable last name.
Good luck!! :)
Well if the first name is one syllable and the last name is one syllable...a two syllable name would be good. So for example:
Claire Christine Smith, Claire Suzanne Smith, Claire Gabrielle Smith
Or even additional syllables (i just realized these are not 3 syllables but 4, lol):
Claire Gabriella Smith, Claire Elizabeth Smith
Not sure if that helped at all. LOL
I LOVE the name Claire...three syllables seem to roll off the tongue....
Elisabeth
Michaela
Sophia
You could even use Claire as a middle name....Lydia Claire.....
Definitely Claire Elizabeth!
I like Claire. I think it's a very classic, pretty name. Very girlie and not very common anymore. I definately like Claire bette rthen Kate.
My suggestions are...

My sister in laws name is Claire Elizabeth (2 syllable last name maiden, 3 syllable married). My second daughters name is Kate Marie (Katherine, but we always call her Kate).

Do you have any family names you can use? Maybe a Grandma or Great Aunt?
I like Claire better than Kate. How about Claire Anne?
You've gotten some beautiful suggestions! I would second someone who posted the possibility of using a family member's name as the middle name. Like a grand mother, great grandmother, aunt, etc. I am a big believer in family names (unless of course they're hideous! I've got quite a few in my family that I wouldn't touch with a 10 ft pole! They were all FABULOUS ladies, but their names left something to be desired!) My middle name is Marie, so is my daughter's, my mom's, my grandma's, and my great-grandma's. We wanted to keep the tradition going. Hopefully, my daughter loves her middle name as much as I do, and will give her daughter that name too. : )
My other advice is to make sure and use an E on the end of Claire. Without an E is the masculine form. (I've known 3 male Clairs.)
Good luck deciding on the name! I'm sure it will be a beautifu name whatever you choose!

I LOVE Claire! So pretty! Anyways...Claire Elizabeth, Claire Marie, Claire Elise, Claire Victoria, hmmm that's what came out immediately. I hope this helps and good luck! :)
I have a Madeline and a Claire, so I particularly liked the "Claire Madeline" response below.
My Claire just turned 5 and she's the only Claire we know her age. She's Claire Renee. We also considered Claire Elizabeth and Claire Veronica. We have a long last name, however, so decided the two syllable Renee worked best.
Good luck!
claire aurora
claire savanna

We just named our LO Olivia Harlow (aka Jean Harlow and Olivia de Haviland) as I'm named for an actress from the 40's. I also like the idea of looking into family names and do rather like last names as middle names too. I like both Claire and Kate. Here are some actresses, just for fun :)
Ava Gardner
Rita Hayworth
Sophia Loren
Jean Harlow
Audrey Hepburn
Greta Garbo
Elizabeth Taylor
Grace Kelly
Vivien Leigh
I have always love Alexandria, however my daughter's name is a combo from her father and I. I'm really big on meaning for your name. My middle name is "Kay" my husband's is "LeMont"; so her middle name is LeKay.
Claire, in my opinion, is one of the most lovely names. There's just something so sophisticated yet simple about it.
What about Claire Michelle?
Michelle was going to be my son's middle name, had he been a girl, after my sister's middle name.
Best wishes!
How ant Claire Braelyn.
I really loved this middle name mentioned in another question - Braelyn. I feel it would go well for u as well .Love the name Claire.
Middle name suggestions: Madison, Brooklyn, Ashley, Olivia, Elizabeth, Madelyn, Aviana, Charlotte
I like Kate but not crazy about the nickname "Katie"
Oh, I LOVE the name Claire! My daughter (Margaret Katharine) has a BFF named Claire. Margaret and Claire, who cool is that?
When I see her I think, awwww, it's CLAIRE BEAR! I just LOVE her!
btw, I don't know her middle name, but her last name is one syllable also.
Course I'm partial to Kate too, tehehe.
Other names I love and didn't get to use
Deirdre
Grace
Maria
Marta
Rose (Rosa, Rosy)
Anne (ANY variation thereof)
Congrats to you, boy OR girl!
:)
I don't have any suggestions but just to tell you Claire Beth is absolutely lovely! congrats on your baby!!!
I like Claire, like Kate or Clara better. I like the suggestion of Claire Katherine or Claire Kathryn, or Kathryn Claire. Long middle names are probably best with a one syllable first and last name. Caroline, Kathryn, Elizabeth, Delaney, Francesca, gabrielle/Gabriella, Gwendolyn, Hannah, Eliza, Isabel/Isabella, Ashlyn, Gianna, Evelyn, Hadley, Amelia, Olivia, january ( love that actress!), Jenna, Makena/Makenna, McKinley, Meredith, Madeline, Madison,Kennedy, Naomi, Penelope, Regina, R./Rebekah, rachel, Anastasia, Sophia/Sofia/Sophie, Vanessa. Congrats on the new baby, be sure to let us know what you end up having and the name you pick! :)
the first name that popped in my head after Claire was Marie
Since I'm a K.... :)
I actually really like Clair. Clair Abagail sounds cute. Clair Genevieve. Clair Sophia is really pretty too.
Congrats and good luck picking a name!
Claire is lovely, a very feminine, rather old-fashioned name. How about another name of the same flavor for the middle name - Amelia... Louise... Eliza... Miranda... Elaine... Maria... Celeste...? You get the idea - girly, romantic, not too common.
Good luck. Naming can be a challenge. One of my cousins ended up with his name because his parents couldn't agree. After he was born, they still didn't have a name, so each of them wrote down a list. He ended up as "Colton" because that was the only name that both their lists had in common.
I used to have a guy friend named Claire so if its a boy you can still use it :)
My first choice was also mentioned by others - good luck and congratulations!
Elyse, Alyse, Alissa..
=)
Claire Elise...(or Aliece)
Claire Corrine....
Congratulations!
Clair Nadine?
Clair Michelle?
It's important to make sure the last name goes well, too. Names that rhyme or have too much illiteration will just wreak havoc on the poor girl. Watch initials, too. My girlfriend was born Ann Suzanne Sulllivan. She married young. ;)
p.s. if you're SURE about Claire Beth, you can expand Beth to Elizabeth and still call her Claire Beth in honor of your granma. Congrats on the wee one!
Usually a long first name goes better with a shot middle name (in my opinion) for example my daughter's name is Samantha Ranae.
I like Claire Elizabeth, Claire Marie, Claire Kathlyene, Claire Christine, Claire Nicole, Claire Jannet, Claire Caroline, J.
Claire Elyse
Claire Elizabeth
Claire Marie
Claire Elaine
Claire Alexandra
Claire Renee
Claire Annalise
Claire Amara
Kate Elyse
Katherine Rain
The possibilities are endless.
I like Claire much better. I think a 3 syllable middle name will go well, like Claire Gabrielle
I agree that Claire is a beautiful name. I would spell it however you want. The only male Claire I know spells it with the "e" on the end. Good Luck for an easy delivery & a healthy baby!
