My husband and I have narrowed our list of names that we like for our little girl down to four. I like Joslyn the best but I am having a hard time coming up with a middle name that goes with Joslyn. Our last name is Cole. We already have a daughter and her middle name is Elizabeth so I really don't want to give this baby the same middle name. I also am not a fan of the middle name Marie...for my own personal reasons. Any suggestions would be great!
Thank you too all of you for the wonderful suggestions that you have given me. Our precious little girl arrived on March 29, 2010. We decided to name her Joslyn Lauren :) All of your suggestions we greatly appreciated! Definitely gave me some different ideas!! Again thank you all!

Grace! Joslyn Grace Cole! I was going to use that if we had gone w/Joslyn! Funny, Elizabeth was the 2nd one that jumped to mind before I got that far! Kristine is nice Joslyn Kristine Cole. Looking at other posts, I like Rebecca and Riley too. Good luck!

Joslyn is a pretty name! Why would you be limited to Elizabeth or Marie? You could pick any name that you like.
Names I think would sound nice and flow well Joslyn - Grace, Michelle, Amelia, Claire, Rebecca.
Good luck in choosing.

Rose sounds pretty with the two names. Maybe there is someone in your family that you would like to honor by using their first, middle or even last name? I also like Riley. For some reason, I think R names flow well here. Congrats!

You have gotten some great suggestions...I just wanted to tell you what a pretty name you have picked out! And you have such a nice last name too. I would suggest a middle name after a relative but keep it kinda neutral like Anne or Grace. Nothing too jazzy.

Do you have any family traditions? My husband's family uses the father's first name as the middle name for boys. My middle name is my mom's maiden name. So, as we narrow our list, the boy name has my husband's first name, and the girl name as my first name (little flip for me, but it sounds better than my maiden name. Also, there is nothing wrong with all the girls in the family having the same middle name. Good luck.

I like your first name choice a lot....If this were me I would choose a 1 syllable middle name....so here goes, Joslyn Rose Cole. Her initials would be JRC...I like JR for a nickname too...it would be cute together for a girl....
Have fun naming your new baby!!! Congrats & hope your delivery is an easy one.

I think it sounds better with a 2 or 3 syllable name. I guess I don't really know how you are pronouncing Joslyn, but the way I say it is only 2 syllables. So I think with a 2 syllable first name and 1 syllable last name, it needs something a little longer. I like the ones that start with a vowel, and I also dont think it sounds good with a middle name that has the "in" sound at the end.
What I am doing is saying it with all the names that have been suggested here and some of my own, and that is how I think it sounds the best. I am not coming up with one that I love however, just what sounds better to me. Hope that is helpful a little. I am pretty sure I saw someone give you this website already, but just in case they didnt...

I think you should consider a female member of your family or even one of the females' last names...because it is a nice way to honor and remember the woman in our family...especially because we usually take our husband's last name...and it is likely your daughter will as well. But, if you are just looking for something that sounds nice what about Joslyn Rae.

Hi S.,
My personal belief is that it's nice for middle names to have special meaning. People don't use them that often, and they're usually only spoken at meaningful moments in life -- shortly after birth, at graduations, weddings, etc. You might want to honor a loved one, or use a "virtue name" that has special meaning for you:
Joslyn Amity
Joslyn Verity (I really like this one, for some reason)
Joslyn Honor
Joslyn Patience
I'm trying to suggest two- and three-syllable names because I think the flow better with the one-syllable Cole, but of course they're also:
Joslyn Grace
Joslyn Hope
Joslyn Faith
Or -- name her after you -- Josyln S.! Or Joslyn Anastasia, since S. is a diminutive of Anastasia.
Both are very pretty, and she can be proud to share a name with her beloved mom!

I know we're not voting here, but I third the recommendation for Annabelle. I think with a two syllable first name and a one syllable last name, a three syllable middle name has the right rhythm. So I thought of Annabelle before I scanned the list and saw two others did, too. Let us know what you pick!
Congratulations,
A.

Hi there,
You may not like the sound of two J's, but my middle name is Josette - I think it might flow well - Joslyn Josette Cole. I was named after my wonderful Uncle Joe, so that's the feminie version my mom came up with. I'm a HUGE fan of trying to keep names in the family - the past 5 generations of our family have all been named after grandparents, great-grandparents and close aunts and uncles. Best wishes! I'm sure whatever you pick will be great!

Lysette or Lycette has always been a name that I loved. It's my childhood best friend's name ..........it's so simple but only goes w/certain names. Her name is Amy Lycette, but I think it flows with Joslyn too. Good luck! It's so hard trying to find names that go together!

I like names to mean something, try searching baby names that go with "happy and cheerful" (What Joslyn means), or pick something about the season, day etc that represents her birth ie Verna means born in the springtime, or from the poem that says Tuesday's child is full of "Grace". That being said, I named my 3rd, Josselyn Joelle after my sister. PS Rae immediately sprang to mind as one that would flow nicely.

I think it would sound better with a one or two- syllable middle name. My daughters are Gwendolyn Hope, Abigail Grace, and Josephine Faith.
There is always Love, Joy, etc.
IF you are not into that, I think Rene, Irene, Kate, Belle, Leigh, and Faye would all be pretty.
