I am so jealous!! Anywhere like this in NJ?
Valley? Morristown? (not hackensack-- not interested in going there again)
Check Morristown or even Hackettstown Hospital.
St. Joseph's in Paterson had a really good NICU but I didn't deliver there. You can go on tours at various places if you want, depending what is near you. Or ask your ob/midwife where they like best.
Morristown is a great hospital. Very good NICU should it be needed, they have midwives, a dedicated OR team, etc.
I'm not quite sure why the amenities are what you're looking for, though. I look for a place where my health and my child's health will be most supported (if all goes well) and protected (if all doesnt go well). I look for a place that has OBs/midwives whom I trust to deliver me. I personally just never got the idea of wanting a spa-like hospital experience ... it's about having a healthy baby and having my birth choices respected, if possible. Morristown is much nicer than a lot of other hospitals, but I wouldn't have thought twice about going to another hospital with less nice rooms and fewer amenities if it seemed better for L&D.
I would start by choosing a few hospitals where you feel you will be in good hands, and then looking for providers from those hospitals that you will trust. I don't know any place with cookies, but some hospitals -- like overlook and morristown -- have a special dinner on your last night there. But those things are all just bonuses to me, and should be an afterthought, after you find a place and provider you trust to bring your baby into the world. Good luck!
Geesh, I don't think so!
I had my daughter in St. Barnies...nothing memorable about that. Had my son in Palisade DEFINITELY nothing to see there, although I did have a view of the NY skyline, but still. Valley actually looks pretty good, but it's something of a hike.
Hackettstown is a small hospital but they are very supportive of new moms. I thought it was great. No Otis Spunkmeyer cookies though.
