P.P.
Hi A.,
I moved to NJ when I was 8 months along. We delivered at Morristown Memorial and I saw Dr. Vina Isaac - she's wonderful and we had a wonderful experience at Morristown!!! Good Luck!!!
Hi! I am moving to Highland Park, NJ soon and am in need of assistance finding an OB/GYN within travelling distance. Also, any thoughts on the many hospitals in the area for delivery? Although I was born and raised in NJ, I have been living out of state for a while and have also never needed an OB before. Therefore, any recommendations are most appreciated! Thanks.

There is a doctor/midwifery practice in Plainsboro and Lawrenceville (Delaware Valley OB/GYN) and they deliver in Princeton. It's a drive, but good care and less intervention-intensive (i.e. fewer c-sections). I used a midwife in Bridgewater (Dina Aurichio) for my homebirth in New Brunswick and she was excellent. If you don't want to deliver at home (which I *highly* encourage you to consider if you want a natural birth), try to deliver at Robert Wood or Somerset Hospital. St Peters has a 38% C-section rate, 96% epidural rate, so avoid it unless you are extremely high risk. It is a high risk hospital, so they treat everyone as high risk even if you aren't. Midwives are the way to go if you want a safer birth (so say many studies, the WHO, and most of Europe) - even if you want pain meds during labor. Good luck!
Dear A.,
I really just wanted to say welcome to Highland Park! I've lived here for three years now, and it's a wonderful town -- perfect for families with little ones.
In terms of an OB/GYN, I really wanted a midwife/birthing center delivery, so I went all the way to the Hackettstown Midwives. It's a hike to get there, but their care was extraordinary, inspiring, life-changing, etc. They basically inspired me to go back to school and become a nurse-midwife myself.
If you want a more standard OB/GYN practice, Brunswick Hills in East Brunswick is supposed to be good -- it's a large practice with about 7 docs; a lot of local people use them. I've heard especially good things about Dr. Sally.
Congratulations on your pregnancy, and welcome!

hi there...i grew up in NY, so when i moved to nj and became pregnant, i had to start from scratch. i ended up going to the ob/gyn group at robert wood johnson, and delivered both of my girls there. it is a fairly large group, which i found helpful because you can always get an appt. the downside is that there may be a doctor who delivers your baby whom you only met once or twice. they do try to have all their staff see you at least once before you deliver. the other hospital around here that i have heard great things about is st. peter's. they are really good with high risk pregnancies and births. by the way, i live in edison, so i travel right through highland park on my way to the doctors and the hospital, and it takes about 15-20 mins. there is a parking deck for the ob/gyn office. the number for the ob/gyn group is ###-###-####. good luck!
Hi! I delivered at St. Peters in New Brunswick which is 5 minutes from Highland Park. My group is East Brunswick OB/GYN. They are nearby off Rt. 18. There are 5 female doctors which all deliver. You will meet all 5 of them during your pregnancy and whoever is on call that day will deliver your baby. I loved St. Peters- it was a great hospital with excellent nurses. Good luck and welcome back to NJ!
I delivered at St. Peter's Hospital in New Brunswick. Besides St. Peter's you are bery close to RObert Wood Johnson. As for an OB/GYN, I go to Assoc. in OB/GYN in East Brunswick. The female Dr's are the one that deliver. I think one is names Abigail Gleason. I see one of the Dr's the no longer delivers but I love the group.
