Hey! I've been given a sample of the Get Clean Basic H2(R) Organic Super Cleaner, and I think I like it. You know those times where your just not sure about things. Well this is it. I want to get more enviro friendly cleaners but I just don't know what to get. I like how this is super concentrated so a little goes a long way. What do you gals suggest?

Thanks all! I knew about how some "green" products weren't really green and wasn't sure if Shaklee was, but now I know! Thank you all. and now I'm really interested in that silver cleaning thing!

I use white vinegar, water and a few drops of tea tree oil. Not only is it safe and environmentally friendly but it's super cheap! No need to get all expensive!

I love my Shaklee Basic! I bought the starter kit 2 years ago and the concentrate looks barely touched. I keep my house super clean, too. It works on all over the house: kitchen, bathroom, walls, floors. It quickly and easily got off old grease + dust from the top of the fridge. It really is cost effective, plus it's safe.

Hi--
The most important thing to consider with "natural" products is can you read the ingredients? A lot of companies out there do something called "green washing"--they claim their products are natural and green as a marketing tool when in reality they are still chemicals. Natural means "found that way in nature". Those same companies will say that they do not post all their ingredients because of proprietary reasons---they don't want people to try and copy them. Here's the thing--you cannot patent a natural product, so only ratios can be secret in a truly green product. Shaklee and melalueca both fall into the category of green washing. In fact, they even have products with known carcinogens in them (cancer causing chemicals). A lot of people will get mad at me for saying this--especially melalueca people who are almost obsessive about their products. They do work. They are concentrated. They are also all man made chemicals which by definition means they are not natural.

If you want to clean truly natural do the following--
Get a big thing of baking soda, vinegar, and hydrogen peroxide. You can mix baking soda with sea salt as a replacement for chlorox to scrub bathtubs and sinks and even the toilet with. You can also use vinegar to clean the toilet. Anything you would use bleach for you can use hydrogen peroxide in place of it. Go online to find ratios for vinegar to water--I think it's 10% vinegar to water to clean your mirrors and windows. It's 50% vinegar to water to clean the kitchen countertops. If you want something that smells good buy Thieves oil by young living (you'll have to get it online). It is all natural essential oils---highly concentrated and cleans just about anything. It seems expensive at first, but the thing is for most projects its 100 to 1 mixed with water to clean. It lasts forever. Seventh generation isn't too bad. Biokleen products are pretty good, too. However, once again, shaklee and melalueca may claim green and natural, but they are still both man made chemicals.

I agree with Jodi too, they claim it but really aren't. I just recently purchased some Norwex products and love them. They are super microfiber infused with silver, so you only need water to clean because the silver is an antimicrobial/antibacterial. I've cleaned my windows with only water. Scrubbed my bathrooms with only water. Love it.

I also have a floor steam cleaner. My floors are always sparkling and best of all its only water used to clean them, so they aren't sticky and I dont' worry about our kids or our pets on the floor, there are no chemicals!

I use alot of vinegar and baking soda to clean too. Baking soda is amazing for scrubbing, and vinegar is used just a small amount to water for cleaning windows and spraying mirrors, walls, etc.

I use either Charlies soap (www.charliesoap.com) or Rockin' Green (www.rockingreensoap.com) for our laundry.

I am not into all the green ideas and I love my clorox (will never stop using it) however, I do use vinegar a lot and it is a wonder cleaner for many different projects.

I highly recommend you buy the book "Talking Dirty with the Queen of Clean"- this book has tons of enviro friendly ways to clean things. I use vinegar for tons of things: ring around the color, add to the wash to remove body oil from sheets/pjs, use it for shirt underarms to prevent pit stains, mix vinegar and water to remove odors and for cleaning counters. Vinegar is good for cleaning out lime build up/hardwater residue. use vinegar and water for cleaning windows, too. Vinegar is way cheaper than paying for a cleaning agent.

I just used a remedy in this book today - I'd burnt some food in a glass pan - tried everything - soaking, scrubbing, oven cleaner - and it wouldn't come clean. She recommended I boil water in the pan with a couple of tablespoons of baking soda - and it worked!

I love Shaklee's Basic H2. I love that it's concentrated- so a little goes a LONG way- and I love that I can use it for so many different things! (If you'd like a list of all the uses, message me). I recently used a squirt in my carpet cleaner and it worked like a charm! So much cheaper than the carpet cleaners they sell. If you are using it correctly there's not way you cannot save by using it. I think I may also have a comparison chart comparing Shaklee per use vs. other brands.

I bought a steamer and use water, baking soda, vinegar, and I also like dr Brooners Castile soap for my granite and lime stone. You can get it at Walgreens and Vitamin Cottage it goes a long way just dillute in a spray water. It already has the oils in it and comes in lavendar and mint. That's all we use in our house. I have not used hydrogen peroxide as a cleaner but thx for the idea. You don't need spend too much green to be green. Watch out for those marketing maniacs :)

I make my own cleaners.... I just googled it and found some formulas that worked. I make glass cleaner, all purpose cleaner, soft scrub and my own oil mixture for dusting... super easy and cheap!
My items I buy, vinegar, baking soda, rubbing alcohol, peroxide, ect....
My house is clean, smells fresh and I know NO chemicals are in the air harming my family!
Back to basics people.... back to basics!! We can fight our reliance on chemicals if we just try!

I agree w/ Kristy V. Melaleuca's products (not just their cleaners) are much safer for your home and the environment because they are all non-toxic. And yes, they work wonderfully. If you want more info, contact me or Kristy...I don't know her I just saw she included that in her post.

I agree with Jodi! I don't know anything about Shaklee, but I was a Melaleuca customer for 5 years and at first I loved the products. As time went on, I began to realize that they were not "green" or as natural as they claim. They still are synthetic, use petroleum products, parabens, artificial fragrances etc.
I make a lot of my own cleaners and I use BioKleen Bac Out bathroom cleaner (I love that stuff!) and Charlie's Soap for my laundry, plus I also Charlie's all purpose cleaner. I don't know how I got along without it!
Melaleuca products actually don't work all that well, in my opinion. I feel like I wasted tons of money with them.
