I went into the store today to upgrade my 3g to the new one, they told me it's going to be 3-4 weeks and I have to pre-order it. She said it's that way all over the country. Really?!!! True? Or did she just want to make a sale?
No that is correct. The dj's at my local station have been talking about it for weeks. One is on the waiting list and the other says she will wait until it is all over with and she can walk into the store to get it.
Lol that is so funny! I went to the apple store today to replace my 4g phone that had a cracked screen. I could not believe the line on a Thursday morning! I personally don't recommend this phone for people w kids, I have the otter box, but even w that on, it still shattered. But I just left there an hour ago and they had a full stock of brand new phones. There were classes being held and I was ten minutes late for my appointment and they were going to make me reschedule! But hey, it's a cool phone, I get to write this blog while I'm eating sushi :-) good luck!
Parents just got one at the Apple Store.
My Inlaws went to the store last weekend and walked out with one. So not sure if it is just your location.
I got mine the day it came out, but I went to the store at 6:45 am. Lol. My dad had to pre-order his and they told him it will be a week or two till he gets it.
Go to an apple store but call first. They only have so many phones for each provider, meaning they could be out of Verizon phones but still have a couple AT&T. Weird, huh.
Or you can order from the apple store online and i think it's supposed to be a week backorder.
I'm confused as to how telling you they don't have it and you'll have to wait for 3-4 weeks would help her make a sale...
Yes, and WE LOVE THEM!! We had them shipped straight to our house, and we received them at 10 am the day they were released. I know our local Best Buy is out, because one of my co-workers tried to stop and get one. People camped out there to get one the day they came out. I much prefer receiving mine in my jammies at my house. :)
I got mine the Friday morning it came out with no wait. Not sure what the deal is. Maybe my husband just went in at the right time?

He just ordered online, via AT&T and he got it quick. He pre-ordered it. Came in the mail.
He got it before people even got it from Apple.
I got mine last week. I pre-oredered online and had it delivered.
This weekend I went to the Apple store to get a cover for it and there was a line going around the corner of people waiting to get one. Not sure if it was first come first served or whether those people pre-ordered and opted for store pick up. Ugh...Just order online - delivery is free and it beats standing in line forever or making several trips to the store.
We just uploaded the new 5 version from ITunes on hubby's 3Gs, my daughter and my 4 version. They now do most everything the newest version does.
IF you do this.......make sure you back up your phone first,, it will wipe out the phone and reinstall everything.
We got the notice for the update on our computer from apple.
I got mine the day it was released. I wasn't able to get there until late afternoon. They were sold out of several of the versions and colors. They had a list they showed you with the ones they didn't have crossed out and you could pick from what they had. My husband let me get a bigger one than planned because they were sold out of the one we were going to get. Happy Birthday to me ;)
They've had it happen with the other versions, they make enough to get enough of them out for the initial rush and then they get harder to get for a little bit until it levels out again.
