Apple crisp at home depot. I forget who makes it, but its a BEAUTIFUL color. Its sort of orange, but its absolutely gorgeous.
We're looking to add some color to our neutral kitchen and eat-in kitchen area. We have medium-stained oak cabinets, beige porcelain tile, brown/black speckled granite countertops, and a travertine backsplash with multiple colors of tan/brown/gold. My husband is leaning toward a paint color in the terra-cotta/burnt orange family, whereas I'm heading toward some shade of red or maybe a light brown. Does anyone have a paint color in their homes that they absolutely love? I'd be open to all colors & shades (light or dark)...the more specific you can be regarding the color name, number and make, the better. Thanks so much for your help!

Hi!
I get tons of compliments (and two friends used it in their house) on my Benjamin Moore "Roasted Sesame Seed" (or maybe it is Toasted Sesame seed) I was looking for something that would seem like is was warm (almost like a fireplace was on-does that make sense) Anyway it is goldish/orangish/yellowish but that really doesn't describe it too well-take a look next time you are in a Benjamin Moore store.

HI. I have kind of the same colors in my kitchen and we went with a a Copper color (it may actually be Copper) from Bear paints at Home depot. I love it and get compliments all the time.
The best red I have found (and I used it for my entire cathedral-ceilinged living room) is Behr Pointsettia. It's gorgeous and true and even fades beautifully.
Ralph Lauren Paint, shade Mocha...my personal favorite, a real warm light brown.
I have many similar colors in my kitchen. We painted it "Drumbeat Red" from Home Depot. It is a Glidden Color. We used the kitchen/bath anti-mildew paint they carry by Glidden. We used 3 coats over a gray tinted primer as advised by Home Depot. Good luck with your project. We love our red kitchen and find it very welcoming!
My kitchen and dining room run together and I decided to paint them a pumpkin spice color. I absolutlely love it!! I even saved to paint card in case we move, I will definately use it again. It is Molten Bronze from Gliden paint. I believe we got it at Home Depot. There is also an accent color that was recommended; Burnt Sienna also from Gliden.
Ooh...I have wood floors the same color as your cabinets and I have toasted cranberry for my top wall color and a vanilla chair rail around te bottom half. My husband was actually the one to pick the cranberry, I was going for a taupe and he said no we need color.
I got it at Lowe's but I can't remember which brand paint it was. If you want I will send you a picture of the dining room to give you an idea.
Hi L.- there is a color called Pumpkin spice, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this color-we had it @ my job until about a month ago (my boss has painted AGAIN and now I hate these colors!!) I think She got it at Home depot-(either there or Lowes but I am pretty sure HD) Oranges and terracottas are so hard (my friend went through like 4 before she found one that wasn't too pink or orange or poopy colored.) It sounds like it would really offset nicely against your countertops- Have fun & good luck!!!
We used a great color in our kitchen & everyone who comes over loves it. It Benjamin Moore "Mexicana". Its in the red family, kinda like a terra cotta. Since it sounds like u have alot of browns, beiges going on...i think u need a color to "pop" it all out. A brown paint will just blend in & look monotone. I can send u a pic of my kitchen if u like, just let me know. I have natural maple cabinets, green counter, light tile.
Sounds like you need some contrast to the browns/tans/golds in your kitchen. Your cabinets are in the yellow/brown family of colors. I would avoid more brown and tan colors. When you started explaining all the colors the first thing that popped in my head was a sage green color. It would be easier to make a recomemndation of color based on a photo though. You can take a pic of your kitchen to a paint store and they'll give you some ideas for color.
I don't have a color to suggest, but if you have young children and the whole family will be spending a lot of time in the kitchen, you might want to consider a non-toxic paint. I used www.mythicpaint.com for our nursery. My husband was really skeptical, but we both love it and feel it has the same quality as Behr or BMoore. They have an enormous array of colors, so you can go to the website and see where the paint is sold. In Westchester County, I went to Torre Lumber in Yonkers. They were extremely friendly and helpful and even helped me choose a warmer color tone for the baby room. I highly recommend it! The paint is 100% nontoxic, so while my husband was painting, I could walk in and out doing other things. This might be something to consider if your kids will need access to the kitchen during or soon after painting. Also dried paint gives off fumes well after drying, so your kids will be smelling the paint even after it dries. Just a tip- their paint calculator estimated about an extra can of paint for us, so you may want to aim a tad bit lower when calculating the number or paint cans you'll need or just use the extra for touch ups.
Good luck!
Your color scheme sounds almost identical to ours....and we painted the walls a gorgeous (in our opinion!) a plummy-burgundy shade. It is a Benjamin Moore paint, and the name color MAY have had the word "Raisin" in it...can't remember!
I am not partial to anything in the orange family, so we went with a burgundy that leans toward the plums...and it looks great!
Good luck in making your choice...and keep in mind, if you absolutely hate it, you can always repaint!
Just thought I would throw in my 2 cents....we did our kitchen in Benjamin Moore Chili Pepper. I am not usually a huge fan of red but I love this color and so do most of the people who have come over to see our newly remodeled kitchen. It is bold without being bright and garish. I used the Aura paint so it only took 2 coats--most reds can take up to 6 coats to get good coverage!! Good Luck!
Yes, L., I have a possible color for your kitchen. When I first bought my house, the seller had a peach coral in the kitchen with off white trim. I believe this color has been discontinued by Home Depot. When I re-painted 1 1/2 years ago, I found orange marmalade, which is about a shade darker than the original color. I also found that buying a quart of paint to try on the walls first was very helpful. I let two separate colors dry over night and found I liked the lighter shade better. Wish you luck.

I love color and I love Bold color at that. My favorite is red and specifically Benjamin Moore makes one called "Spanish Red" which I really loved (previous home). I wanted a red that wouldn't lean towards purple or pink without it being a crayon colored red type thing and I found this one to be just right. However, my only word of caution is that you paint a red-base first if you are going to use this. I didn't do so and at 1st it was just right and I thought everyone was wrong. But eventually the shade got lighter and although it was still nice, I would've preferred it to stay as it was at first. Moreover, I think it's a great contrasting bold statement of a color considering the family of colors you mentioned (and it is a sort of warm red) and you could always accesorize with red decor if you'd like.
Good luck! N.
Almost all of the paint brands have cool online tools so you can see what different colors look like. Also if you go to home depot or loew's they have pictures of rooms and you can pick a color that way. (That's what I've done and have been really happy with the results).

Some tips. Dark colors are really dramatic, but if it's a small space it can look sufficating. If you really love a dark color, you may want to do it on one accent wall. Otherwise, you may just want to do a lighter color in the kitchen. Have fun!
BADLANDS TAUPE from Valspar. It is such a delicious color. It has that beige-y feel with hints of peachy red.
It was an absolute mistake that I found this color. I forgot to bring the correct the paint chip with me to Lowes. I had all 3 kids with me at the time and we were staging our house for the market and I needed the paint that day. So I picked a paint color at random since I couldn't concentrate with the kids and Badlands taupe was what I chose. It is truly beautiful. I do not think the chip does it any justice so you may want to get a sample.
It sounds to me like it would be a nice balance between yours & your husbands wants not to mention picking up the colors in your cabinets & granite!
"Experts" say that red is the color that promotes hunger. I think it reminds me of blood.
Try Logan Berry. It's close to burgundy but more redish.

Foxy Brown by Benjamin Moore.
Being that it is a kitchen, I would opt for a bright sunny color. I love reds and have that in my living room and guest bedroom. However, for a kitchen, I like light and airy. Without seeing your kitchen and only going by the description, you could go with something in the yellow family or perhaps something like sage. You dont want to go dark in the kitchen. Have fun and good luck!!
Hi L.,
I just painted my living room a Benjamin Moore color called Golden Honey and am totally in love with it! I think it would work nicely (although I can't say for sure without seeing the room) with the colors you have in your kitchen. I have an interior redesign business called Domicile Doctor, as well as my therapeutic bodywork(see my ad here on Mamasource) and help with colors all the time. Good luck!
I'm with you on the red, maybe getting it in a warm tone with some orange hues to it. We have red in our kitchen and I love it!!
I absolutely adore sage green. Pretty much my entire house is painted in sage and a nice warm beige. My living room is painted 2 walls of terra cotta, which also blends in with the sage theme. I personally couldn't find a sage color that I liked at Home Depot, so I got a can of spray paint and painted a white sheet of paper and took it to them to color match. That is another thought, if there is a color that you like in a curtain or something in another fabric ( as long as there is a pretty good swatch of it) take it and have them color match it. I would advise that you buy a quart or I know that some of the paint stores sell like a 2 ounce (I think) container for you to "try" out. Put it on a the wall and let it set for a couple of days and see how you like it before you buy gallons and gallons of paint that you wind up hating in a couple of weeks!!! Been there done that!!!Good luck and I hope you and your family enjoy whatever you decide on.
The one thing I will say is for sure use Benjamin Moore paint... it is a bit more per gallon but it is the best paint on the market!!! You can go to their website and paint different room types and see what it will look like on a wall. For me I think you should do something in the green family.... more of like a sage green. Check out the website and I bet you can find something. I love green in a kitchen ... !!!!!
I absolutely love a color called crushed velevet . I got it from our local true value .It is like a bricky red . I was confused about colors and then a lady who had just redid her house, recommanded this color. If you use this color make sure that you use a primer.
Good Luck.
Hi. I don't have a specific color for you. It just sounds like with the colors you have a coffee theme would great for your kitchen! They have a set of dish towels and pot holders at Walmart, and there is red on them, and a coffee theme. I think splashes of red in certain places would be great with your colors. Go to a home improvement store and get one of every color sample they have. Take them and hold them up with what you have, and set the best few aside. Then you can decide with your husband on the best one. Save all the cards in a shoe box (your 2-1/2 yr olds would be the perfect size!)for future reference.
I used "balmoral red" in my kitchen and love it. It's a nice deep red. I think the color is made by Ralph Lauren (chips available at Home Depot) but I used it with Benjamin Moore paint. Good luck!
