Anyone Else Annoyed by the Automatic Timeout on This Site?

Sigh. First world problem, I know.

When I first started here, I could log in and remain logged in until I *chose* to log out. Within the last couple of weeks, that has changed to an automatic logout if there is no activity.

Now, I'm assuming that I'm not the only person here who has other things to do besides stare at this screen waiting for someone to ask a new question. ;-)

If fact, I often have multiple tabs open. I even (dare I say this?) go AFK occasionally. o_0

And now, every time I return, I have to log in again.

I sent a message to Mamapedia, and got the form letter response.

Anyone else find this annoying? Or is this change something that is only happening for me?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

@ Jo: PC (Windows 7)/Firefox

I don't know of anyone else that could be logging in on my account. And I only use one device - my phone isn't smart enough for this newfangled web surfing :-)

Thank you for the suggestions so far - I'll be trying them!

The only time I get logged out is if I log in using a different device (iPhone etc) then come back to my computer.

I have the same issue but it does not bother me because I expect a timeout from experience with banking and other secure sites.

I re-log in each time I click on the site by my IPhone or my laptop.

I do have an automatic message asking if I want to continue to be logged in and I decline. Maybe check that out. I don't know if that's with MP or my system.

I'm always on the same computer when I come here.
I get logged off maybe once in 8 weeks - perhaps longer - it's very infrequent.
Is anyone else logging into your account from elsewhere?
If your cookies(and other cached data) automatically get deleted when your computer gets turned off (it's a setting), that might do it.
The thing to look for is what ever has changed on your computer in the last few weeks.

OMG so it isn't just me. I have to re-log in with every. single. post. I figured it was a new security feature. Annoying.

I'm using both Win XP SP and FF on one machine, and at other times I use the other one and turn this one off to rest, and that one has
Linux Ubuntu "Natty Narwhal" build and FF, so two entirely different OS on two separate PC not on at the same time with the same "timeout" issues.

So definitely not just you.

I don't really have this issue unless I log in from a different device.

It happens to me, too. I don't find it particularly annoying, though.

What browser and OS are you using because this never happens to me. This site does not allow for multiple log ins, like you cannot be logged on to your desktop and a phone at the same time. It will keep logging you off when you log on somewhere else. It has been like that since the days of the dinosaur though so not sure what is going on with you.

That doesn't happen to me. I wonder why it's happening to you.

Try going to your history and clicking on "inbox" instead of something else. If I use "inbox", I never have to log back in.

i'm not sure it's the same problem but my computer will often shut down or lock up with me being on here, and there will be times i can't use the back button.
