I have my 11 month old daughter in a home daycare and I am not really happy about the situation. I am a full time student and I am looking for part-time work and I have been told to work in a daycare and I will be able to recieve a discount for childcare. I would like to know if any moms are working in a daycare and if you have any suggestions or advice I am all ears. I live in Plano in the Spring Creek and Coit area. Thanks!

I have worked in Preschools for the sole reason I wanted to "bring my daughter to work with me". I wanted to be able to know what was going on with her. I for one would never have mine in an in-home situation. Especially when they are too young to talk to you about what's going on.
Yes, you can get 50% off childcare but just know that the pay is very poor. I was in management so mine was free, but there are a lot of women working in daycares because their child(ren) go there.
Let me know if I can be of any more help.

You should try Kiddie Academy of Plano at Legacy/Alma...it's a good daycare, run by someone I have known for 6 years, Jackie Watts. And you will either get free or discounted childcare. I had my oldest son there for a couple years...but moved to McKinney so had to change his daycare.

S.,
I have worked in a daycare ( i am a degreed teacher) and I wasnt happy with it. My daughter is 3 though...with your daughter being 11 months old the ratio will be lower...for my 3 year old it was 15 children per 1 teacher...just check the ratio and pick a place that has ratios lower then the state of texas requires...if you have any questions let me know...

Hi S., I want to let you know that
I am registering with the state as a
home childcare provider. I currently
care for 2 boys (21mo and 12mo), both
part-time, so I can give your little
one a lot of attention. I am available
full or part-time, even by the hour.
I live in Far North Dallas on Frankford/Tollway. It might be not to
far for you if you take the tollway
from Spring Creek. I have excellent
referrals on mamasource under Other
Childcare, my name is A. Trombin Lynch. ###-###-####.
Thanks,
A.

Hi S.,

I started working at a day care when my daughter was born so she could be there with me. It was great except that I was still breastfeeding and had to take a scheduled break to feed my daughter. It was tough to know when she was going to get hungry. The other kids got feed as soon as they cried, but not her. She would cry for 20-30mins some days. It was very difficult because she wanted me, but I couldn't hold her or she would cry harder. The other lady I worked with had to hold her (I hated that!!!) I wanted to be able to comfort my own child. We were there until she turned 11mo. I couldn't handle some of the things going on in the center. The director was making some big changes that affected every classroom. And on top of that my daughter suffered from 3 months of on going ear infections. She was on antibiotics, which caused diarrhea. We were out allot those last few months. I finally decided that with my background and love of children, I wanted to work at home and take care of other babies.
Starting last march I opened my home to other babies. It's been great.
I do have an opening for full or part time. I would love to watch your little girl. I know how you feel and have been there before myself. If you would like more info please email me or call ###-###-####

I had worked at St Mark's Child development center but they don't hire full time because they don't want to pay for benefits and my son was always sick that's why I don't put in a day care.
I hope this helps and Good Luck.

Hi S.,

I have a very good friend that runs Peanut Gallery here in Carrollton off of Rosemeade. Her sister runs the other Peanut Gallery on Josey in Carrollton. Her name is Becky if she is not there you can try Terry. They may can help you out with openings in your area. I took my two boys there since they were babies and I loved the place and the people. Good Luck!
