Grace Based Parenting by Dr. Tim Kimmell was a great help for me. It helped me discern what in my kids behavior was worth making a big deal over and what things I could exercise a little more grace and mercy. It was helpful for me now with 3 kids 6 and under and my sister also found it helpful for her teenagers.

Any of the basic Love and Logic books are awesome.

I also recommend if you do get into the books, taking a class or two on Love and Logic.

It has changed my world as a parent:)

The books also come on Cd...Which is awesome because it can be used as a form of punishment in the car......The kids HATE it......and my response to them is ''ah, that's to bad''.....or...''So sorry''...which gets them to be quiet.....If you get into it, you will know why it makes them pull out their hair:) I LOVE IT!

I love Kid CEO. (I was going to suggest "Bringing up boys" but as you have a daughter - LOL).
I also have found value in love & logic and the 5 love languages of children.

I think Touchpoints by T. Berry Brazelton gives really good insight into toddler behavior and helps understand how to respond.

I really liked "What to Expect the Toddler Years". Like the other books in this series, it seemed to answer any questions I had!

Babywise - it's a series. It was the easiest to read and understand and followed our philosophy of raising kids to be well behaved and independent and on a schedule.

With any book, use the parts that make sense. Each kid is different, not every situation applies, yadda yadda yadda.

And I know some will hate this book because of the feeding schedule, but the objections seem to center around the feeding schedule at 0-3 or 4 months (which doesn't apply here)
