hello,
i am about 7wks into my pregnancy now and ever since my 4th or 5th wk i've been nausaus pretty much all day. i don't end up vomiting at all and i've only hugged the toilet maybe twice..haha i've called the advice nurses and they've given me some things to try, like raw ginger in my mouth..that didn't work. i've tried emitrol (some sort of nausea medicine)..i've tried just making sure i don't have an empty stomache but i just don't seem to have any type of appitite when i'm sick and i know i should be eating enough for the baby to develope right! i try eating fruits, but that only helps for a little while and i've tried just eating frequent small meals a day!! NOPE! is there anything else i can try? i'll take anything, even if it sounds crazy.. with my first child i never felt this bad and i didn't start feeling like this until about 4 months and it only lasted about a month and only for an hour! this time around it lasts all day until i go to bed and sometimes beyond that! also, i'm having trouble sleeping at night! i'm exaughsted from taking care of my 2 year old son but just can't fall asleep, is this part of being pregnant too? or is it just me? please help! thank you so much!!

What can I do next?

Trader Joe's has dried ginger slices that help with the nausea, and saltine crackers carried everywhere will help as well. Drink plenty of whatever liquids taste good to stay hydrated. I ate grapefruit to keep my nausea at bay--it was what I craved. Remember, it will pass in a few weeks!!! I suspect that you will have a boy since you are sleepless...it is the testosterone. Also, the nausea is actually a good sign of strong pregnancy hormones at work!

Thanks for your response, and the ginger slices are dried, with a little sugary/spicy taste to them. I eat them like candy! Good luck!

I have a one year little guy and I was sick as a dog for the first 4 months of pregnancy. These little candies called Preggie Pops worked wonders for me. I found them at Motherhood maternity store. I think they have ginger and other stomache soothing ingredients in them. They are little hard candies you suck on and it really helped. A friend of mine swore by them too. Good luck it will pass.

Try the seasickness bands. Ive heard that that works. I also liked peppermint tea and the preggie pops.

I am almost 6 months pregnant, and had similar all day nausea which would worsen as the day went on. And on top of that I also was experiencing really unpleasant digestive issues. It was like anything I ate would just sit in my gut. I was sick with my first two pregnancies, but not like this. It was really bad, but thankfully I am past it now. I, too, was desparate for relief. Here are some things that help a bit for me: sucking on popsicles, plain noodles, red raspberry tea (the mint tea always made me feel worse). Some of the things that made me feel really bad were anything tomato based, too much fruit or vegetables (there were just too hard for me to digest), and sugar. Toward the end of it, I ended taking Probiotics, which I got from Whole Foods. They actually seemed to help quite a bit (especially because my digestion improved right away), but my OB was a little cautious about me taking them just because there are no studies to show the effects of probiotics on pregnancy. My morning sickness didn't fully subside until I was probably 17 weeks. Oh, I just thought of something else that really helped- being in water, like a pool or a full bath, seemed to soothe me quite a lot. Being sick with a little to take care can be tough, so just make sure you take it easy, and only do what is absolutely essential until you start to feel better. I wouldn't really worry too much about whether or not the baby is geteting enough nutrients. Your body is an amazing thing, and it can give to the baby what it needs even if you are not eating so well right now. Ask for help if you can so that you can get the rest your body (and your baby) needs. I hope you begin to feel better soon! Congratulations!

My nausea and projectile vomiting started since the 5th week and lasted 5 weeks ahead and I ended up with this situation after using No to morning sickness tea several times a day. It's an organic herbal supplement that won't hurt a prego woman or her baby.
