A Question About Getting Dressed for Sahms

If you are staying home with your baby all day and have no plans to go anywhere (no errands for the day), do you still get dressed and ready- ex. do you fix your hair and (for those that use it) put on makeup for the day-or do you hang out in your jammies/house clothes? I was just curious as to everyone's opinion on this.

What can I do next?

the first year of my kids' lives i was on pjs all day every day. and i felt just as bad :)
i had a few pairs of jammies though so not THAT bad.
nowadays if we're just staying indoors i take a shower, use body lotion and wear my 'worst' clothes so i can clean and mop and cook without worrying i'll get something on clothes.

Me too, it depends on the day. Nothing like a cold, snowy day to hang out in the jammies, but now that it's summer, I find that I am out and about more.

I try to get dressed for the day, it seems like I accomplish more when I do. On the days that I'm in sweats with no shower, I tend to be lazier (but that's okay, we need those days!!)

Whatever you are in the mood for is what you should do!

Yup.

<laughing> As in I do both. Well... to be precise... I *always* shower. Or I never wake up. I have to shower in order to feel human &/or alive. I also always wear my warpaint (in part because it has my sunblock in it). But sometimes I'll kick around in jammies all day, and sometimes I'll get dressed dressed.

But the shower in necessary. Vitally necessary.

Honestly, I'm embarrassed for those moms who walk their kids to school in their pajamas. Shame on them! Getting dressed for the day is something everyone should do, whether caring for your children or working from home. It takes you out of that lazy around and lounge mode.

I find that I get more things accomplished if I get up, get dressed and make my bed. I put a minimal amount of makeup on (eyeliner and mascara) and at least pull my hair up just in case someone pops in for a visit or my hubby comes home for lunch =)...but I do wear my little slippers!

If I am not going anywhere, I don't put on any make-up and I put my hair up in a ponytail, but I do get dressed in comfy shorts/sweats and t-shirt. I have saved a lot of money on make-up and hair products by doing this also. But that's just me. Some women prefer to get dressed no matter if they are leaving the house or not. It's just a personal preference.

I always shower every day while my son is napping. I change out of my pajamas and put on yoga pants or running shorts and a t-shirt. I don't typically put on makeup unless we have an errand to run (it saves money not using it as often). I feel much more refreshed and ready for the day after showering. I agree with previous posts, I too get more accomplished on days that I shower. :)
