A breathable bumper worked for us... my son did the same thing!

This is the second time it has happened. He wakes up screaming because he is stuck and both legs have gone through the bedrails. Obviously because of his age he is starting to scoot and moves a lot. I have a bumper I could use but worried he'll just get tangled in it. I thought about some kind of mesh. Any similar experiences and recommendations?

We also have Breathable Bumpers, we got them at Toys R Us when our daughter started doing the same thing, probably around 6 months. They were worth every penny.
Mine always had her arms and legs stuck between the slats. We put a breathable (mesh) bumper on her crib and it did the trick! I highly recommend them and found one on eBay for a very reasonable price. Good luck!
The breatheable bumper is what we use. It is from One Step Ahead. It uses velcro instead of strings. http://www.onestepahead.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId...
I have also heard that the mesh sides that come with a crib tent are pretty effective.

Breathable Bumpers! They will fix the problem without the worry of traditional bumpers.

I don't know why they keep selling the traditional baby bedding sets! You really can't use any of it except the sheet and the crib skirt. With my last baby I only bought the sheet and skirt for the set I liked and said forget it to paying $150-200 for stuff I couldn't even use because you aren't supposed to use the traditional bumpers and you can't use the comforter! All baby needs is a sheet and breathable bumpers.
The breathable bumpers sold at the major stores and online are mesh...we use those. Been great!
www.gomamagodesigns.com has something called wonderbumpers. The bumper pads go around each individual rail so it is safer than a bumper pad. You can see a picture of them on their website. I believe Carter's or Onestepahead.com also have them too. Good luck!

Go ahead and use the crib bumpers. I know there are dangers involved with them so when I used them I used two sets and weaved them between the slats. It works awesome and there will be no more arms and legs stuck :)
All my kids did it for a few weeks. Then they learned not to do it. I never did anything but pull them out when they cried. I did remove the crib bumpers so they wouldn't get tangled though.
I used a sleep sack and that seemed to work.
we bought the crib tent when our very wriggly little boy (my MIL calls him Mr. Migration, because he moves around all four corners of the crib), started getting his arms and legs caught. We found the mesh sides better than a traditional bumper, which "collapsed" under the weight of his arm or leg.
Its so well worth the price.
