Try not to worry S., 100.7 is not really a high temp at all, just keep doing what you're doing, she sounds fine :)
My daughter was acting fairly fine this morning with the exception of being cranky because she and I were up from 3 am-6:30 am. She ate breakfast, and seemed just tired after. We took a bath/shower and after she was burning up and just wanted to sleep. So since about 1 she has been sleeping on my bed on and off for 4 1/2 hours. She isn't lethargic but she wakes up crying then i reassure her that I am right here and she falls back asleep. She is drinking juice rather well, but she hasn't eaten anything except for breakfast. I need to get her tylenol and motrine when she is more awake. She looks like she is cutting her 2 year old molars again so I am wondering if this could be the cause of the high temp. ANy thoughts?
Her temp spiked and then she threw up. Called the doctor and she said just watch her and if I think she needs to come in tomorrow to bring her up. Thank you all!

100.7* isn't really a "high" temperature. It's still a low grade fever. Chances are, though, that it's not due to teething as teething only accounts for up to 100.5*. The fact that she's sleepy and has a low-grade fever and her appetite is decreased tells me that she's fighting something. I wouldn't give her Motrin or Tylenol unless she actually seems uncomfortable with body aches or a headache or really bad teething pain. There's no need to control a fever so low. You need to let it do its job.
I wouldn't push food so much as encourage her to drink cool and warm liquids. If the fever gets worse or her behavior becomes worse and she really becomes lethargic and super fussy or seems to be in a lot of pain, and fever becomes uncontrolled with medicine or room temp bath and drinking fluids and being in light, loose clothes-to-naked and higher than 103* I would call the pediatrician. If she reaches 104* I would head to the ER and call the pedi on the way.
Yep - Jessica Wessica said it all pretty well. I don't give meds until his fever is at more like 101 or he is super-cranky and the fever is making him uncomfortable. If your daughter is sleeping a lot, let her. She just wants her mommy, it sounds like - hence the crying. My son was always like that at age 2. I could actually tell he was getting sick before symptoms came b/c he'd get super-clingy to me.
I don't ever give my son Campbells soup, but when he is sick, it is his special soup (the Toy Story one). I will put extra broth in it since he just loves broth. I'll give him plain crackers to dip in his soup. Anything to get some food in him! But I never push food when he's sick. I just try to have a variety and something special (blueberries, blackberries, raspberries are special to us b/c they're expensive most of the time, but they're super-good for ya! YAY!)
I was reading today that children often have reserves where they can go 2 days without food, but they cannot go 2 days without fluids. So try to push more water. If you gotta do juice, try watering it down perhaps. Hang in there. I know it's not fun when our kids are sick!
Don't worry until your daughter has had a fever for more than 3 days. They need to be seen then. Sounds like a virus is brewing! It is really bad out there right now!! My son had a low fever for 2 days like that...then a few days later had bronchitis..totally out of nowhere!
also agree with jessica wessica...and i would cut back on the juice. when they are sick we need to push fluids, but juice isn't that good for her with all that sugar, even 100% juice. it's water she needs. good luck and i hope she feels better..
My daughter also had a fever between 100 and 100.7, from Thursday morning until this morning (Saturday). I just kept pushing the water and popsicles, and put lots of cold washclothes on her face. She slept on and off the first day, a little less so the next. She ate nearly nothing. Today she is feeling much better! We got out of the house and even went out to dinner as a family. I bet your daughter has a similar virus and will be fine soon :)
Jessica Wessica said it well. I too suggest she is fighting off a bug and the fever will help her body do that. We give acetaminophen and ibuprofen to reduce a high fever, well over 100 and/or to help deal with pain.
If her fever doesn't rise to 103 or104 she's not seriously ill. Sleep is good for her.
Some say their kids have fevers with teething. Some don't. So yes it could be teething but since she is sleeping I suggest it's more likely to be a bug at 100.7.
I would doubt that it's from the teeth but she must have a virus or something. Do what has been suggested with the fluids, let her sleep and if the fever stays low she's fine. Keep an eye on her though by taking the temperature once in awhile. So much is going around here now.
my little guy got a fever every time a new tooth came in!!! couldn't really tell the difference between being sick and a tooth coming in. bring on the tylenol!
