Good Afternoon Mamas!
my washer broke yesterday, it is not draining the water once its supposed to go into the rinse cycle.
So, i was wondering IF anyone out there, is washing machine savy? am i just going to have to suck it up and buy a new one OR should is there a possibility that something is clogged?
any suggestions or advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much in advance.
have a wonderful day!

Why not call a repairman?
Sounds like the pump or a belt. Might be a $50 fix.

Unfortunately, you're at the end of the life cycle of a modern washer. We had the same problem a year or two ago with ours and it ended up being a motor issue. We had to buy a new one (cost prohibitive to repair). I would have a repair person come out and give an estimate and take it from there. But odds are, it's time for a new machine.

The new machines just don't last as long as the old ones did.

We just had this happen for the second time in our 6 year old washer. First time this happened we had someone come out and they replaced some switch and it worked fine for about 5 months then it did it again. Guy came out said it was the same thing but that it would more than likely keep happening. DH went and bought a new Samsung front loader set for me. We probable could have had it fixed again but at $400.00 dollars each time it was not worth it.

Mine was older than 10, M.. It was almost 20. We were lucky because the one that came with the house was in the basement - I wanted to use my own. At least I had an extra, so I had my husband and son bring it up from the basement. I'll use it until IT dies or we move, whichever one comes first.

It's getting harder to find regular detergent that isn't high efficiency (we have to use Tid or All Free), so at some point I guess I will really need a new washer.

I think it probably will cost you more in the long run to try to get it fixed.

Can you look up your machine's manual online (if you don't still have it somewhere) and see what info is in there? We have a front loader, and it did this about 2 years ago (when it was 3 yrs old). I was extremely annoyed and was ready to toss it and get an "old fashioned" one. Turns out (thru a little research online) that the drain filter is accessible thru the front panel with a simple tool and some effort. (a bucket to catch the water and some towels were handy too). Once hubby removed the filter and we took the $5 in coins, pencils, hair barrettes, pocketknife, paperclips and various other items out of the filter, and put it all back together again. It worked just fine.
:)

Does your machine have a drain filter?

I would have a repair man come out and look at it just in case is an in-expensive fix. It could just be a clogged hose or a part that went bad. If its going to be an expensive repair, then buy a new one.
