Hi our washer broke today. It cost too much to fix it. Please recommend a good washer. Thank you.

have a fancy front loader.....i don't hate it, but i wish I had a top loader.....my hubby (who NEVER does laundry) insisted that the front loader was better......don't know why I gave in......why should he care?????
We have an LG Frontload. I HATE IT!!! We have only had it 3 years and it breaks down all the time. It has a humidity sensor that breaks all the time. Luckily, my husband knows how to fix it (he has to take the back off and replace the sensor). We also have an black X marked, where you have to beat it when the spinner stops working. I don't have a recommendation, just a non-recommendation :)
Stay away from Kenmore Oasis. Had we googled it prior to buying we probably would have seen the bad comments. Do your research online. My mom swears by Maytag. Hers is 14 yrs. old. The one before that, the same.
hi! i just recently purchased a GE proflie! and i love it. I love the fact that it has auto-sense on it. you can just put the clothes in the washer and it weighs the clothes and knows the exact amount of water to put in the machine!!!! i have seen a small difference in my water also since i purchased it. you do still have the option of setting the load yourself but why bother. it really comes in handy for when you only have to wash those few things that you really really need NOW!!! lol i caught it on sale at sears for about $550. and they are also doing cash for clunkers with appliacances! i got a $50 visa card in the mail( of course it too forever to get here) but i applied on line for it. but the rebate amount may vary in your state. but as long as you buy a energy star appliciance(washer, dryer, fridge, stove etc) you can apply for the rebate. good luck!!
Do yourself a favor....go to Sears, pick out a good ole' basic top loading washer and get the warranty. I bought my Kenmore washer and dryer 12 years ago...no problem. My mother has a Kenmore washer (that she bought at Sears) and still has it....working!!! 24 years later...I remember using it as a teen....I'm 39 now.
This whole "computer, front load, fancy shmancy stuff" is just a waste of money.....how much cleaner can your clothes get? The more complicated the appliance...the more expensive the repair....
when and IF my Kenmores die...I will simply replace them with duplicates....I, for one, am not falling for that front loading nonsense.
Kenmore Elite Oasis Top Loader with Canyon Capacity. Love it and the matching Dryer! At the time of the purchase (about 2 years ago I think), it was the largest capacity machine available at Sears.
Love Sears, check to see if they have a no interest, no payment plan.
I bought a front-loading Samsung steam washer about 6 months ago and looooove it!! Wow, does it get the clothes CLEAN. I did have one warranty issue with it, and Samsung had someone out the same day I called, he fixed it, and the bill was taken care of by Samsung (even though the issue was that a hose clamp had not quite been installed properly during installation - so really it wasn't even Samsung's fault). I've been very pleased with it.
I'd get a top-load. I know people w/ front-loads who have to leave the doors ajar...slightly open...or else mold will start growing. They say it smells & it's very annoying!!! They also have to wipe them dry. This is why I didn't buy one.
We have the Samsung front loader and love it!! We have 5 kids, four of them boys and I can get an entire weeks worth of laundry done in 4 loads. It only uses the amount of water that's actually needed by weighing the clothes. We've had ours for almost 2 years and have been nothing but happy with it!
I absolutely love our LG TROMM!
I got a top-loader for $350 from Home Depot after my $1200 front loader died and it would have cost $600 to fix it.
I got an Admiral - very pleased with it!
I had a Maytag for 14 years and 5-ish home moves (who can remember?) and when it died, bought a new one. This one lasted 6 years and blew a bearing that would have cost more to repair than the washer was worth new. The repairman told us that the old Maytags were like getting married - you had them forever. But the new ones are apparently outsourced to multiple other companies and the quality has dropped. Sooo, once the bearing on our machine is completely and utterly dead (instead of being just insanely noisy), we'll be buying a new washer also. Just not Maytag.
When my husband and I first moved into our current home, we had moved from an apartment that had washers & dryers in the basement... so, we went on Craigslist to see what we could find... We ended up getting Whirlpool brand Roper models -- which I found out were one of the cheaper brands... but we only paid like $250 for BOTH the washer & dryer -- and when we got them, they were seriously brand new. The guy that we purchased them from, I think, refurbished used ones... I'd check out Craigslist to see if there are any decent deals... even if it's something that is used, if it's cheap and it works... it may help to buy you some time to save up for a brand new one... :)
Good luck!!!
We recently bought a LG front loader and I love it. I am not sure really how much better it is compared to our old top loader that we had for 19 years. I like that the front loaders use less water and so far no problems with it. I do leave the door open all the time, although I always left the lid up on our old one. I wonder though if the front loaders are hyped up to be so much better, especially given the price.
Hi, I got the fancy LG front loader in part because the dryer has a steam wrinkle release setting and the washer has allergiene wash.
Well our allergiene wash takes 2 hours, the washer is very noisy, and you can not fit as many clothes in it as the Sears 3.3 cubic feet top loader. The washer smells very funky and I keep running those $3 cleaners through it, even 3 at a time. It says energy efficient, but I don't see how if I have to do 2 loads. And the wrinkles I try to get out don't come out unless rewashed. And yes, I do have water in the steam tray. The pedestals are odd since I am really short and drawers really inconvenient.
Plus, I am very embarrassed to admit, we paid $5,000 for the set. We have medical issues and that was what sold us on the set really. I miss my Sears Kenmore and secretly hope these get recalled. LOL
