Our New Activity Bus: A Hit with Kids and Grownups!
Emma’s second birthday is coming up, in less than a month. So we’re in the search for some birthday gifts for her. Being that she’s the youngest of three, we don’t want to pick just any toy for her.
Picking toys is not easy, is it? Did you know there is a toy website called ebeanstalk, dedicated to selecting good, safe educational toys and learning baby gifts? BUT they need help from moms like me to help pick the toys.
The toy they sent is called Activity Bus from Plan Toys, who make eco-friendly wooden toys. I have to say, this toy has been constantly played with from the moment we brought it out of the box. I love the little people that come with it—they’re all bendy so they fit in the chairs. The bus came with the two people, three desks, a driver’s chair, two sets of books (one of which we promptly lost) and a chalkboard with two sides. Everything is wooden, and really very sturdy. The door opens, too. Not only do my children love this bus, but I love it too.
The small figures are perfect for little hands, and also perfect for the small motor development of those little fingers. It’s an open ended toy, whether you want to push it around, or open it up and play school. It’s very durable, and wipes off easily. (I know this because Emma colored all over it in blue crayon. It wiped right off with a damp cloth.) I can see this being one of those toys that we’ll someday pass down to the grand kids.
This is not just your run of the mill toy. One of the reasons that we love this Activity Bus so much is the fact that it is so unique. My kids won’t see it at all their friends’ houses- they won’t see it every time we visit Target or Wal-Mart. There’s no commercials plastered around TV. It’s simple, and don’t you think the best toys are the simple ones?
That said, if you were to ask me if I’d buy this toy, or any other toy from Plan Toys, I’d say yes. They are a bit more money than a regular run-of-the mill toy, but in the long run, don’t we want to go for quality? I sure do! I’d like to encourage you to go over to Plan Toys and Ebeanstalk. You can start Christmas shopping early! Have fun playing!
