I have a 2 year old son who is expecting a baby brother soon. I really want to do everything I can to prepare him and make it fun for him. One thing I want to do is get him a "I'm a big brother" shirt. I don't want to order one online unless there are no shipping costs. Anyone know of any common local retailers that carry shirts like these?
I got mine last July at Baby's R Us. He wore a size 4t. They did not have one for my 7yo, so I got his at Edwards Hospital's Gift Shop. I do not remember how small they went.
I don't know where you can buy one, but when I was expecting my 3rd child, we made them. We just bought a t-shirt and some fabric markers, etc at a fabric store. I wrote "big brother" (since my kids were too young to write) and let them decorate them. They had so much fun with it and then wore them to the hospital to visit me after the baby was born. I think it was a neat way to prepare the kids and they were happy to make them!
I saw "Big sister" ones at Von Mawr. I only have girls so don't look in the boy department, but assume if they had big sister, they have big brother, too! Congrats.
Have you looked on Ebay? You could probably find one with free shipping (and personalized if you like). This web-site cafepress.com has TONS but you do have to pay shipping. It's around $5 I think. I just ordered a "big bro" for a friend of mine and it's totally cute. Congrats on the new addition to the family!
JoAnne Fabrics has really cute iron ons that say "I'm the big brother". I made one for my niece--I just bought a plain T-shirt in a contrasting color and ironed the decal on the front. I bought the iron on letters and put her name on the back as well. Her shirt was a huge hit and even though her little sis is a few months old, she still loves and wears the shirt. I think the iron on only cost around $4 and I bought the shirt on sale at the carters store for $2 so for $6 and absolutely no sewing/crafting skills at all, my niece got an adorable handmade little shirt.

There is a small selection available at both Babies R Us and Toys R Us. Congrats on your new addition! BTW, I'm on the same timeframe as you. Daughter just turned 2 and another little girl due at end of October. Hope you're feeling well!
Not sure where you live but there is a really nice baby/kids store called Special Delivery in Geneva that has them. They are going out of business after 18(?) years and everything is 40% off. Really good deals on nice stuff, but it is getting pretty picked over. (however i did see big brother and big sister shirts and sweathshirts still there on Saturday). Also check Cradles and All in Geneva and I have seen them in the past at the Dreamwear shop...all within a couple of blocks of each other.
When we were expecting our second child, we wanted a "Big Brother" shirt too (that's actually how we told my mother-in-law that we were expecting). We didn't actually find any shirts to buy off the rack and decided to make our own. Our son got to help and it was a lot of fun.
