WHat are you doing/have done for your childs 1st birthday

I was just wondering what is out there and available to one year old parites. I would love to hear how yours went or what you are planning to do. Also, what does the format look like as far as a timeline of events. Any info regarding this would be awesome. Thanks

All we did for my son's bday was have family and a few close friends over for cake/ice cream and unwrapped the presents they brought. At the age of 1, they won't really remember the bday, so my feeling is that there doesn't really need to be anything extravagant or expensive done for it. Wal-Mart's cakes are pretty reasonably priced and they provide a "smash" cake at no cost (I think it's actually 1 cent that you pay for it).
Good luck on finding something to do!

Yeah, Price Chopper does the same thing with bday cakes: providing a free cake just for baby when you buy the sheet cake.

For both of my kids 1st bdays we just had a party here at home with family over. It was mainly for the pictures for the baby book b/c they dont' remember anything about it! We're planning on doing something a little bigger for my son's 3rd bday this summer. Maybe a trip to the zoo or something--I hear they do bday parties for a pretty reasonable cost considering what you get. Deana Rose Farm out in Overland Park?? KS is great too--we went there for a child's 3rd bday party. Not sure what the price for that is though.

If we don't do the zoo we'll probably just go to a nice park and have a big picnic with friends and family and the kids can play while the adults grill out and hang out.

Have fun with your baby's 1st bday and take lots of pics!

My little girl doesnt turn one until April fifth... but I have already started to put ideas together as well...

We live in a highrise apartment building and we can rent out the "hall" downstairs for free... so we will be having it there... We went with a care bear theme for her baby showers... and her bedroom and I am thinking about going with the theme agian since she can build up the collection. I have also thought of My Little Pony... I have a friend who will make the sheet cake for 40$ and the baby cake for free~ She does a great job and is really artistic... and her cakes are amazing!! (She is making our wedding cake too...) Since most of the children that are going to be there are under 3 there wont be too many games or anything I dont think... we can save all that for when she gets older and knows what the heck she is doing. We are going to set up a play "area" for all the kids with books and toys and coloring books to keep them busy and just hang out. We just want it to be a really laid back thing where all the family can get together... the only "planned things" will be the presents adn then eating of the cake (Meadow smushing it all over her face!!) - Since it will be in my apartment complex it will be so easy to bring some of her toys down, her swing maybe (for the little ones), her excersaucer and her high chair to eat her cake in... I am also going to put trash bags all over the floor around her so I dont have to clean up any mess afterwards since it isnt my carpet you know? Maybe if you have a set up like that you can take advantage of it or if you have a home hold it there? Let me know what you think... I am also going to make invitations on the computer and email a lot of them so I dont have to use much postage... Let me know if you need anymore ideas...
