My 11 month old daughter is wetting through her diaper EVERY NIGHT. I've tried just about everything I can think of to avoid this. I've used washclothes in the daiper, sanitary napkins, covered her diaper with a plastic diaper, everything. I feel so horrible, she wakes up at like 3 in the morning absolutely soaked and cold and miserable. I feel so bad. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep this from happening. I'm currently using Pampers diapers. Maybe if I change brands? I just don't konw. Any advice?
Huggies makes an overnight diaper. (Huggies Overnights) They work great. The stink during the day though, because they dont move with your child. But overnight they are great. Give them a try.
well the number one thing is cut liq before bedtime... my son was always soaking his diapers and finally we stopped the sippy cup before bed and it made things TONS easier.
I had the same problem with my 15 month old daughter a few months ago because I tried different brands of cheaper diapers. I went back to the ones I used first because they worked the best. They were the Huggies Supreme Natural Fit (red bag) and they worked when she soaked through the other diapers.
Katie,
That happened with me too. I used LUVS and I went up a size. The bigger sizes hold more. If that still doesn't work try HUGGIES Overnights size 3. They work wonders. Good luck!!!

Hi Katie, I can totally relate to your story!
Through my experiece, there's a couple things you could do that worked for me:
1) limit the amount of liquids about 3-4 hours before bedtime
2) try using overnight diapers (which absorb more liquid since the absorbancy materials are distributed differently than daytime ones)
3) upgrade the size of your daughter's regular daiper altogether
This last suggestion was really all my son needed to prevent changing the sheets at 3 in the morning! Since our children grow, so do their bladders and their ability to hold more liquid changes, as does their ability to hold it for longer periods.
My thought is that since your daughter is maturing, she's wetting less diapers throughout the day (but wet, full ones nonetheless), so at night she lets go of all the liquid she's drunk the last few hours before bedtime in one shot (rather than 'short, little pees') and the diaper's liquid capacity can't absorb that amount in a short time so it overflows onto her bed. (*Much like when we women wear a maxipad and stand up, where the pad can't handle that gush of blood, then we get leaks - sorry, girls!) So the solution was to upgrade my son's diaper one size, to allow for more absorbancy. And the wet bedding ceased!
In addition, I always had a bedsaver beneath my son's sheets (available to babiesrus, buybuybaby, etc.) and having that thick, plastic sheet under there always saved his mattress from getting soaked too... Hope I've been of some help, so keep us posted!
My son had the same problem. He would drink tons and pea like crazy at night. The best thing that we ever used is Huggies Overnights. These are super absorbant diapers that will last most of the night. We even went through a time when I would change him before I went to bed at night into this diaper. Most nights he didn't pea through. We're still using them. They do make a huge difference, even though he has a 5 pd diaper in the morning. Try Huggies Overnights.
i have 3 little boys ages 4 and twin 2 year olds. the twins are still in diapers for 4 years we have used Pampers cruisers - we tried other brands but we found they leaked for us - is it the cruisers you are using? they contour to the body and are stretchy. I would also consider going to the next size.
I think most of us have been there at some point - most like everyone suggested - I used overnight diapers & bought one size up from what she usually wore during the day and limited the amount of liquids the hours before bedtime. That usually did the trick!
Also, don't be fooled by price tags - just because Pampers are more expensive doesn't always mean they are the best. While I loved their cruisers for the day because they were softer, flexible, held tighter, & prevented leaks when she was active, I liked Huggies overnights for bedtime. My youngest is now potty training & at bedtime wears a pull-up. I use the CVS store brand because they hold better (keep her clothes dry when she does have an accident) than the Pampers did & they are much cheaper!!
Wow... I have two boys that do this every night. It's the pits and the laundry sucks too. Anyway, I've noticed that if I cut back on sippy cups in the afternoon till bed time, they don't wet thru as often. Good Luck!

PS- I use pampers. I've tried others, but they work the best.
My son used do the same thing and I received this advice and it worked for me. I gave him a double diaper, but on the inside diaper I put a rip on the outside of the front of the diaper. For a girl maybe the rip should be near the bottom. Then I put another diaper on top of that one. My son never wet through this contraption. Good Luck.
My oldest son used to do the same thing, I started cutting off any drinks at an earlie hour. hoping that he would empty his blatter before going to bed. Give this a try, and if nothing else, I would call the doctor.
My 19-month-old son still wets through some of his diapers at night. It's been an ongoing thing for us for months.
What I've found that works best is Huggies Overnights diapers (you might try going up a size, too) plus a diaper doubler (Wegmans has them).
Most mornings he's not soaked, or just has a little that leaked through around the belly or leg.
He does drink a 10 oz sippy of milk before bed plus sometimes nurses during the night, and I don't restrict liquids in the evenings. I'd rather him wake up wet than be thirsty.
During the summer, I can change his diaper easily if he wakes up. But right now he wears 2-piece PJs plus a zippered, footed fleecy PJ on top, making diaper changes in the dark a bit challenging.
try huggies overnights & you can also use a doubler.
the overnight really helped my oldest daughter who was a very heavy night wetter.

I know that there are "overnight" diapers....I wonder if they would help at all? Also, a larger size in another brand might be able to contain the spills!
Good Luck!

I'm surprised to hear she is wetting through Pampers. My DD is also 11 months and her diapers were leaking when we used Huggies. We just switched to Pampers CRUISERS and they're great! If you're not using Cruisers, I'd try those. If so, maybe she can nurse less or drink less right before bed?
Huggies Supremes work and also LUVS are WONDERFUL!!!!
Hi Katie
We have found that if we use a one-size larger diaper at night than we use during the day, our 6 1/2 month old stays drier and can get through the night without soaking through. Maybe give that a try?

I don't know if this will help (because it doesn't make much sense to me from a logical standpoint), but my sister-in-law was having the same problem, and actually started using the next size up diaper (for example, her daughter weights 22 lbs.; she went from using a size 3 16-28 lbs diaper to using a size 4 22-37 lbs). She said it stopped the leaks. You could give it a try and see if it works.
I've also heard of double-diapering (actually putting two diapers on the baby) but that sounds weird to me and I don't have any experience with it. Good luck, and sorry I couldn't be more help.
my sister had this problem with my neice (she used to drink alot fluids all day and at night) so what she ended up doing was buying cheap store brand diapers and using 2 at night, she would tear the first one underneath then put another over the top of that torn one. this was the only thing that would work. i beleive she tried every brand of diaper before coming up with the double diaper technique, LOL :) hope this helps ??
