therapy pets

Anyone know of an agency that brings therapy cats or dogs to visit special needs kids? I see list of places that offer theraputic horseback riding but none that offer anything else. I'm an apartment dweller for now and couldn't handle caring for a dog. But my kids enjoyed meeting an OT over the summer who had a score of therapy dogs. If she didn't live in Dallas, we would see her again. My three boys have zero social skills and learning to play with a dog might enable them to play well/seek out other kids to play with in the future.

Also anyone know of a support group for adults with asperger's syndrome?

www.pawsacrosstexas.org I'm not sure how they work, but it's one place that serves Fort Worth too.

It says for parents of children, but if you call, they may be able to give you a better reference!

The therapy pet is a great idea, but also you could take your kids to a local night out program for kids with special needs and their siblings. The one we attended in Atlanta was great for socializing. Most are free, too. You can google special needs respite and the name of your town (I think I did dallas fort worth) and I found large groups listed together and that was handy.
